October 16, 20178 yr There's several of these books by Stephen Clarke, all about a British man in France. They are really funny stories. I'd think this one would make a really good James Bond-ish movie.
October 21, 20178 yr Just picked up "The Mountain Between Us" by Charles Martin. It's about 2 survivors of a plane crash in a "frigid mountain wilderness" (lol). I'm excited to read it, then go see the movie.
October 30, 20178 yr Tavis Smiley interviewed Isaacson on his PBS show recently, discussing this book. I've read several of his past efforts and found them all first rate. The illustrations in Leonardo are amazing. Highly recommended. The Secret Lives of Leonardo da Vinci | The New Yorker
October 31, 20178 yr Been reading some old Issac Asimov short stories. Of course, "Nightfall" is a dandy.
November 7, 20178 yr Author Got this at the Goodwill for 99 cents. First two books in what I think is a series of three. Written by a youngster and you can tell - likes to use big words but I would call the writing "naive". Also derivative ( dwarves mining jewels that don't always see eye-to-eye with the pointy-eared elves that are somewhat loftier than the other races - where have I read this before). 2 stars out of 4.
November 8, 20178 yr A Legacy of Spies - John Le Carré I've read everything he's written and this may be his last work. Many characters from Smiley's world winding down into old age. I can slip into this like a well broken in pair of loafers. George Smiley and Other Old Friends Return in John le Carre’s ‘A Legacy of Spies’ - The New York Times
