What a great game.

That was just ENJOYABLE at the highest level. It was close bc kids made plays, not because they threw it away. Awesome game.

I just got back from the ER to get my heart started again :eek:, reserved a spot for 4 nights from now in case needed bc I figure that will be another close one going to who makes one more big play.

Nothing more to say about Monk and Fox and the games they had. Bam added 13. I was really happy and frankly surprised to see that the Cats won the battle on the boards. UNC is one of if not the best rebounding team in the country. U.K. held the Heels to 10 off. boards while grabbing a whopping 24 defensive rebounds, keeping them from getting as many 2nd shots on their end. Fox added double digit assist again with 10 and we needed every one of them

This was two excellent teams playing at a high level from tip to the final buzzer.

U.K. travels around 70 miles west on Wed. to see our red feathered friends. That one wouldn't surprise me at all to see it go down to a last play and who makes it wins.

One of, if not the biggest, takeaway from today's game as far as I am concerned.

Very entertaining game to watch but UK is going to have to learn to play some defense. They look awful on the defensive end and rebounding.

That's my soap box speech / what I look for in a game is rebounds and defense ...they win games and neither take a lot of talent, just a lot of guts and desire.

Agreed, both teams were so stink'n hot that I'm not sure what if anything would have slowed them down.

Defense looks bad against teams that are elite on the offensive end. This UK team will shut down pretty much everyone not wearing UCLA or UNC on the front of the uniform. Duke is probably in there as well. Defending a team that can take and make a bunch of tough shots is really hard, and why those that don't really understand the game think there is no defense played in the NBA.

 

You can defend UCLA and UNC as well as possible and still have them score 90 plus. That's what happens against teams that move the ball, shoot at a high level and cause problems on the glass.

 

If you want to rail on the UK defense because they struggled to stop two teams that are as good as you will see on the offensive end, just make sure you own it when they play everyone else...

I agree. And after watching the DVR replay I might add that there were a big number of big shots taken today and made (by both teams) with arms and hands stretched to the limit square in the face of the shooter. Just difficult shots made by great athletic players. North Carolina had a player start out with what originally was a 7 foot shot turn into a 12 footer on a jump back fall-away release. Ridiculous but he made it. How do you defend that?
