West Jessamine 1 Simon Kenton 0 (PK's)

Featured Replies

Very entertaining game.

GK Yates made some outstanding saves.

SK put 9 behind the ball most of the game, and the strategy frustrated WJ. It left Zoeller 1 vs. 3 most of the night when the ball was cleared. The game plan almost worked. She still got off 10 shots and almost pulled off the win if it weren't for a couple quality stops from the WJ keeper. Clearly the best player on the field, maybe the most talented in KY.

West had quite a bit more possession and build up, SK had more shots. IMO the better team moved on, but SK should be proud of their season.

A strong statement to make about any one player, even more so considering (I think) the WJ keeper is only a freshman. She is on her way to one heck of a HS career.

Yates was in goal for shots 1,3, and 5. Zoeller in goal for shots 2 and 4.

On top of that Zoeller took first shot for SK and Yates took last shot for SK.

Thanks.

Based on the play by play on the other thread the first and last PK taken by Simon Kenton went wide. Very tough to ask your keeper(s) to stop shots then step up and knock a PK into the back of the net.

I took the comment as being made about Zoeller, not the WJ keeper.

I think the comment was meant for Zoeller as well. If not, then it should be.

She is a talent and anyone denying that is simply ignoring the obvious. If she isn't the best in the state, then she is def. one of the best.

WJ Keeper was very good, but meant Zoeller was best player on the field. The two girls going to UK are great players, but Zoeller had a greater impact on the game.

Have only seen Mitchell part of one other game, she is outstanding yet not asked to do as much for WJ.

Again, what a game. Zoeller a fine player but appeared to try to do just a little bit too much last night which ultimately may have frustrated her some.

The keeper strategy might be OK for a regular season tourney but just a little too much for a state semi's. Yates had a great game, let her tend and not kick. Can't help but wonder what effect thinking about playing goal played on Zoeller's miss. All easy to armchair today but one thing for sure, sometimes coaches can coach too much, especially with own and in big games.

Again, all in all, looked to be a great game; one of those that too bad someone had to lose but it did seem like WJ was better skilled team and SK was more physical. Great season SK, best of luck WJ.

I know Zoeller's PK was unsuccessful, but what I didn't hear (sorry if I've just missed it) was whether or not it was off-frame, or it was saved by the WJ keeper.

Thanks.

Off frame is what I heard.

Zoeller is good and uses her physical nature well, but someone commented towards the end of the game that she literally may not have passed the ball all night. Was taking long balls against the smaller defenders and just bull rushing them. Young from West started matching up later and put a stop to most of that.

SK was very physical and came out very aggressive and did pack it back and kept Lee and Mitchell from being able to get any freedom at all.
