  1. And last year in the Elite 8 on the way to the state championship. Wess Jess is now one of the Elite Programs.
  2. Did a fantastic job at his alma mater. Set record number of wins in each of his three seasons. Anna Lee graduated and soccer and volleyball making it hard to keep girls in the program.
  3. You can go to prepspin and scroll down to girls 46th district game and watch. PrepSpin.com - Presented by White, Greer, and Maggard Orthodontics
  4. Yea might be a good time to leave. Danville was small but really fast this past year with the Walker girls and Turner. Saw them against West Jess and the speed on the floor with those girls and Anna Lee from West was unreal.
  5. Havent been the same since Coach Seamands left. He is now at Wess Jess and turned that program from nothing to 20 win season in 3 years.
  6. Saw Robins TOO MUCH with Wess Jess in the same district. She is talented with a lot of skills. Great floor sense, good handle with size/length, natural athletic ability and quick reaction and instincts. Only weakness may be a little foot speed.
  7. Of course Anna Lee and Eva Mitchell of Wess Jess to UK along with Abigail Zoeller. Zoeller and Mitchell have already enrolled.
  8. Ian Carry just got the UK job. Top assistant and great guy. Will do a great job IMO
  9. That's exactly right. In basketball there are several rural counties that can play with the big boys in the sweet sixteen because basketball has been a serious sport all over the state for years. In soccer not so much in the more rural areas.
  10. Got ya. I do think that is some of the reasoning behind going to random draw is so that more schools have a chance to advance farther from time to time. This was just a year where it really came out one sided.
  11. I think you just made his point. The blind draw is what made it possible for two Lexington area teams to make it but one had a relatively easy path and one had probably the hardest path ever to a State Championship. I don't know of any team in any sport that had to take down then #3 (Boyle region final), #2 (Notre Dame), #1 (Sacred Heart), and #6 (Simon Kenton) just to get to the final. This was an historic run by West.
  12. Zoeller is good and uses her physical nature well, but someone commented towards the end of the game that she literally may not have passed the ball all night. Was taking long balls against the smaller defenders and just bull rushing them. Young from West started matching up later and put a stop to most of that. SK was very physical and came out very aggressive and did pack it back and kept Lee and Mitchell from being able to get any freedom at all.
  13. Wow this board's gone completely silent lately. All 4 teams are good and could beat each other. West is on a roll though with Rexford in goal now and the "two headed monster" as you put it on a mission, and playing some real good defense. Anybody else out there?
  14. Great goal tending for sure. Anna Rexford is going to be a good one and only a freshman. West has a little more than a few nice players though. Two UK commits and a few other future D-1 talents. Has put a lot of players into D-1 int the past and one on the national team. West controlled the second half of that game all the way around and not just in goal. Agree on Tierney. She's a good one and the goal keeper is too.
  15. Better than that. Both teams got in a circle for prayer. Notre Dame kids and coaches and fans couldn't have been more classy.
  16. True and I think they also are afraid if they seeded some of the regions would have little chance of ever advancing past the first or second rounds. But man if you're West . . . you just beat top 5 Boyle county for region, Congrats!!! . . . now get on the road and beat Notre Dame and Sacred Heart and we might see you in the final four. Life is tough!
  17. "More like drawing Butler in the first round then UK in the second. Come on man, Duke, really, really? Look again it's the KENTUCKY State Soccer Tournament." Good catch, lost my head there for a minute with the Duke thing. In my defense I was coming form a perspective of Kentucky getting the bad draw. That's why I used the other two names that will never be mentioned again!
  18. Yep it really should be a good, some real talent on the field. What a draw for West and/or Notre Dame huh. Like making it to March Madness and drawing Kansas in the first round and Duke in the second. Probably should think about seeding in soccer. It's not like basketball where even there's good basketball spread across the state. In soccer it's much more concentrated to a few regions. But then again you've got to beat them all to win it anyway so why not do it backwards.
  19. West plays a high level schedule each year including the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame, Assumption etc fairly regularly so they are very aware of the athletic ability on those teams. All those teams are skilled and deep. But not sure there is a tandem anywhere more skilled and athletic than Lee and Mitchell on West. Could come down to whose defense comes to play. Should be a great game
  20. I am 100% West bias and also 100% accurate in what happened. Everybody can have a "rest of the story" tale but there is no doubt the Boyle coach refused to allow his team to shake after the game. Ask the Herald reporter if you want confirmation of that. The further background to this is what happened last year as well. After Boyle won, West lined up then this time in defeat and waited for Boyle to finish their celebration on the field complete with pre made T-Shirts etc ignoring the fact West was waiting in line to shake hands. Thats why you hear Coach Wright yelling at the end, "you did this last year and you did it this year . . . " Spin it how you want . . . the folks who were there both times know how it went down. The Boyle coach was out of line and looked bad both times.
  21. And to follow up . . . they HAD played regularly in the regular season every year because they are regional competitors and were always on each others schedule but Boyle decided they didn't want to play West this year so they didn't.
  22. Was there and can tell you what happened. To give a little background Boyle and West have developed an intense rivalry but more from Boyle's side (they hate West) because it has been one sided for the past 10 years with West dominating. Boyle finally broke through last year and beat West for the region for the first time so this years battle was built up as big as ever with Boyle ranked in top 5 and West coming on strong in Anna Lee and Eva Mitchells last go round. The game was high level and and intense (physical but not dirty with most big calls going Boyle's way). West got two second half goals and won and lined up to shake hands and Boyle's coach refused to let his girls shake. Low class move by Boyle's coach (not his girls - they played their hearts out). What you saw on the video was what happened after the Boyle coach refused to shake hands.
  23. For sure. Boyle is strong and finally broke through and beat West last year. West looking for pay back.
