Congrats to the Blueboys on their win...didnt get to see the game last night but when I heard the outcome late last night I didnt need a bunch of text explanations etc.

 

I have watched enough games this yr already to be able to visualize exactly what happened. No team, even the superstar Highlands offenses of the past could have won games giving up an average of 50+ pts a game. Thats 7+ tds a game or almost 2tds per qtr. HS football teams only have maybe 9 or 10 possessions per game if they are lucky. Just really hard for me to comprehend.

 

Congrats to Eddie for doing what I figured he would eventually do when he arrived in Park Hills to take over that program. Guy is a great guy and class act:thumb:

Is this a Ryle thread? What makes you think that you know anything about Highlands football? Let me know when Ryle wins something and then we will talk. Change happened last year and they went to state semi's. Where was Ryle that week? Oh yeah, at home getting ready for the next season.

I was listening online and they said the scoreboard went to 1st down. Then CCH stuffed the next play and took over on downs.

 

I assume the Birds staff knew it wasn't first down??? Hopefully, the sideline markers as well as the official clearly indicated it was not a first down.

Observations.......

 

HHS did make some changes defensively in the second half. Taylor did move to outside backer. Bowden was moved inside. New played at safety. Grothaus played a bit more at corner. Now the moves did not slow the Colonels down much, but they did get some film to evaluate and maybe make further changes.

 

No two way players as was rumored to be happening. Maybe seeing the success CCH has with this system will help the coaches to pull the trigger on that one.

 

Game plan early on was to huddle and take time off the clock (completely contrary to the hurry up/wear 'em out 2 platoon system that is in place)- which was abandoned after CCH opened up the big lead.

 

HHS actually scored 20 unanswered at one point of the game.

 

HHS was down 35-0 at the 10 minute mark of the 2nd quarter. Final 34 minutes of game action was 28-26 Colonels.

 

This is the same coaching staff that has a state championship, and a semi-finals appearance. Playoff coaching record is 8-1. Time to show the all of us that you can get the best out of this group of boys.

 

Here's to a rematch in Park Hills in 4 weeks.

They lose some pretty darn good lineman after this yr!

I know Cov Cath lost to Ryle, but they may be best team in NKY. They are rolling and may win State. They beat a really good Ohio team in Sycamore and are just rolling teams. They have good skill players, and a really good line. If not this year then next year they will be the team to beat in my opinion.

The bottom line is Highlands is not a competitive NKY football team right now.

Why is thread still going on? Cov has a very good team this year and Highlands has a lot of work to do. That was known before kickoff to anyone who has seen these teams in person.

Is it possible that the HHS coaching staff has already decided to have some its best athletes go both ways moving forward, but decided to hold off on fully implementing it due to the likelihood of a rematch in four weeks?

Not so sure there will be a rematch if they keep giving up 48 pts a game.

I think anything is possible. And may happen. But I'd say a couple things. I would think if that's the case, we'd start to see that this coming week. If they were going to do it, I'd guess they'd want some game experience doing it prior to seeing Cov Cath again!

 

Secondly, I sure hope this team and staff isn't looking past anyone to a rematch with Cov Cath. That's not a given. So if they are going to do it, it shouldn't be for just playing Cov Cath. It better be to hopefully turn things around for whoever shows up to play them the rest of the year.
