Now you are on to something here. The lack of heart and desire on the defensive side of the ball is unreal. I have full contact practices next week and the 11 toughest guys are going to play on my defense no matter if I have to plug all DB's in there.

 

I think this is unfair. The effort is there. They were overmatched. Highlands needs some size up front on defense or any team with size is going to do what CCH did - run it down their throat. CCH is an average or little above average running team. They throw it more than they run it. Last night they threw 8 passes, because they didn't need to throw it.

No disrespect but watched CovCath get dismantled by a Div III DeSales Team in Ohio a couple weeks ago. Sounds like Highlands is struggling this year, are their any good teams in NKY this year?

 

That Div III DeSales team is currently ranked #5 overall in Ohio. The Stallions are very good.

If your best eleven defenders are playing defense and are playing up to the best of their ability what adjustments or personnel change would be of benefit or be better? We have been hearing change, change , change for two years now. It's like one or two changes will make the difference and you'll start winning all of a sudden. You are getting beat soundly. Maybe the teams you are losing to are just better physically right now. No change in the world is getting you more wins this year. You are getting beat, not losing by your own accord. There is a difference. All the couch Qbing is funny though. Do you guys want some cheese with that whine? It's just my opinion but it's kind of demeaning to the teams you lose to that you think it's not that they are better but that you just aren't making the right adjustments.

Read what I typed. I have said more than once that the defense is overmatched physically. I even said Urban Meyer and Nick Saban could not take the HHS players and beat CCH last night. I also gave credit to CCH as I was impressed with their team (Mayer and McGinness specifically). I did not demean any other teams so for you to suggest that is frankly ridiculous. What I AM saying is that many much closer to the program than me (I am not close to the program at all), are not happy that they are seeing the same thing every week with no changes. If you are giving up 50 plus every week AND routinely giving up 500 yards rushing, you would think things would change...either in personnel or in scheme.

Wrong on assessment of defense. Congrats to the Blueboys. #71 made up for lost time! He was a beast. Hat on everybody great execution. Roles reversed this year.

I think we as parent's and our boy's know that we do not have the best 11 out there. That's the sad truth. I heard about some adjustments as well but it didn't happen that I seen .

Absolutely not. Covcath is a very good team and they are loaded at the freshman level as well. Personally I think a high school coach should not be fired over W/L unless they are losing complete control of the team. I haven't seen Highlands this year, but as far as I know they are just outmatched.

 

Agreed! The only thing this does is it maybe quites down the Highlands faithful who always told other programs it's not about the players they have, it's about how hard they work. That if other programs worked as hard they could be just as good. I think the Highlands faithful sees now that while you do need to work hard, you also need the players to be the great program they always have been. This year I don't think it's cause they are not working hard enough, it's just them experiencing what other teams experienced many times when they had played them, and that is just being outmatched player wise.

 

I know there was a lot of talk earlier this year about platooning being better than playing your best guys both ways. Could this be a case where Highlands would be better off playing their most talented players both ways? It will be interesting to see adjustments made for the playoffs, because I don't think highlands will go quietly in the playoffs.
