Riots in North Carolina over shooting

Featured Replies

Maybe black leaders such as Loretta Lynch , Eric Holder and others should step forward in this situation and call for peace , highlight that the suspect was armed , the officer was black , and while there is great sadness in this tragedy the rioting has to stop . ? Would it help ?

Mrs Lynch commented how the rioting was getting in the way and was not acceptable.

Hands, shoulders, kneecaps. Maybe they should be. Any Tom, Dick or Jane can do a kill shot from within 5 feet, which is about the distance of all these shootings. You mean a cop can't shoot a person's hand, shoulder or knee from within a couple of feet? C'mon man

How often do you go to the range? Here's a suggestion for you so that you can realize one of the reason's your idea is absurd. Go visit your local gun club, somewhere that offers trap shooting. If you don't own a Glock 9 or 40 caliber handgun, ask them if you can rent one to trap shoot with. They will think you are crazy, so just explain what your trying to do and they will most likely still let you give it a try. Then try and hit the clay pigeon once it has left the trap and is about 10 feet away from you. After you fail to hit less than 50% of the clay pigeons, if any, you will have a better understanding of why officers or anyone for that matter is trained to shoot for center mass.

Police chief said the video does not "definitively" show a gun.

But there was a gun recovered correct ? Are you suggesting a cover up and cops planted the gun that was recovered ? Or am I mistaken that no gun has been produced ?

Thread after thread, opinion after opinion the majority on here say if do the right thing(don't draw, raise hands, keep mouth shut, etc.) nothing will happen, but what I don't understand in all of these recent situations is if a police officer is so well trained in target shooting, etc., why does every shot from the Cincinnati incident to Louisiana to Minnesota to Missouri to North Carolina have to be a kill shot? Can you not shoot the hand, the shoulder, the knee caps? 9.9 times if someone draws on you(especially all of the recent black men in these shootings) they should not be near the type of shot as a police officer unless they are a hunter, assasin, etc. What's the reason for the quick draw and killshot? Can someone explain that makes sense. Meanwhile a guy in New York/New Jersey plants a bomb TRYING to kill and maim innocent people and he is wounded, but alive. Do not get it.

I would contend that the police screwed THIS one up. Dude should be dead.

I think he meant you can't see him pointing gun or making quick movements towards police.

They already stated that they recovered a gun.

Chief simply said the video does not confirm that a gun was pointed at the officer who shot the victim. Chief says the totality of the evidence, however, supports the shooting.

Family is seeing the video today. Not sure what they're going to get out of it based on the comments by the chief. They will still question the shooting.

If you can't shoot a guy anywhere but "center mass" from the distance all of these shootings have taken place, what's the farthest been? 5 feet maybe. Son you need to go back to the range. Not talking 20 yards. You could add up the distance of all of these shootings and they wouldn't add up to 20 yards

I'm not sure I or anyone else is following what you're saying. What point are you trying to make? Are you saying police should shoot at limbs to injure or is this sarcasm?

Almost all police shootings are questioned after the fact. A big reason is because of everyone's perception of the word 'justified'.

Family members of the deceased never feel like the killing of their family member is justified. They feel like All In and think they should shoot their arm. He could point a gun at police and not feel as if the shooting was justified.

Most people who do not understand policing don't feel it's justified if there is no weapon visible or feel like the shooting is justified if the bad guys shoots first.

Police officers feel like if the deceased posed a threat, the shooting was justified whether there was actually a threat present.

Anyone who thinks you should aim at limbs is an idiot.

Anyone who has had pistol experience who thinks they could hit a moving target the size of a hand or a knee from even as close as 15ft consistently is either full of :poop: or a pistol expert of the likes we have seldom seen. And I've gone through enough brass to fill my swimming pool over the years and I'd have a 1 in 20 chance to hit someone's hand from that distance with it moving. That notion may be the most goofy suggestion I've read on here in some time. And that's saying something, consider that list.

I'm starting to get a man crush on you and @The Scribe :lol2:
