The First NKY Top 10 Fan Poll

Combine that work ethic and the merits of the Jr. Football League, and the unbiased fan should realize that Highlands does not win because they are Highlands; they win because the kids, coaches and administration put forth a level of effort and committment that is matched by very, very few programs in the state and each year Highlands coaches get a bunch of new kids that understand a few fundamentals about football, but even more importantly, have had a fun experience playing football in the Junior League and want to do what their fathers, grandfathers, brothers, uncles and cousins have done: win state. Dale takes them, allows them to have a much fun as such a grueling practice schedule permits, teaches them that through hard work and committment all is possible and then turns them loose on the field. And yet some people think its genetics or a couple of transfers a year that makes it possible. I've talked to parents of several transfers who have told me that the kids at their "home" school do not work that hard and even question if their own kids would have worked that hard if they had not transferred. But when they enroll at Highlands and see what the "native" kids do, they jump in and follow the lead. While I have no doubt that Lorenzen, Smith, Nevels etc down the line were great athletes, I seriously doubt they would have been as good as they turned out if they had not played at Highlands or some other school demanding such a committment.

Is this a little comic relief on a Monday?

If Ryle's better than Cov. Cath I'll buy you a Diamond !!!!!!

I know scrimages don't mean much and Gray was out but one guy does'nt bring you from getting dominated to winning a game (unless your Boone County in the mid 90's and that guy is Sean Alexander)

Get a clue. If Murray would have played in that scrimmage, it still would have been a 3 TD victory for CCH. Ryle will be lucky to "upset" single A NCC. They were unable to do that last year.

 The old "quit crying " response when you got nothing better to come up with. Let me assure you that no one is crying whatsoever. The win at any cost attitude just isn't that important to a great many of us..:ylsuper: :walk:

This comment says it all. There lies the difference between the successful programs and the unsuccessful.

Before people respond to Henry's post, let me clarify what I think she meant (if I'm wrong, no supper tonight:banana: for me). She meant win at all legitimate/legal costs. We don't and won't cheat to win, but will put in the work and committment it takes. Is winning state more important at Highlands, CovCath, Beechwood, X, T, etc than it is at some schools? Evidently so. But when the same schools win state or when Highlands and Beechwood beat schools twice or more their size, folks shouldn't make posts that they can only do so because they recruit. Thats a big roll of baloney. They simply want it more. And if your school, your coaches or your kids don't want it as much and you lose, just accept it as a loss to a team that was more committed and move on. Don't blame it on some advantage or some illegal recruiting.

DD - care to give your thoughts on the above?

Thanks Hon, Your right. It was a BIGZIG quote. :creepy:

Yep...I think the Raiders are the best kept secret in NKY. Once Benke is back and Ryle can throw the ball it's a totally diffrent team. We are moving the ball fine with 11 in the box. Once we make the opposing D spread, and stop cheating up, eveything opens up. We still have a couple O lineman and a very good receiver to get healthy. In fact, no one has seen Ryle play this year yet.

Let's compare records in 7 or 8 weeks.

Actually Gray played in the CCH scrimmage, think he had a 30 yard TD run.

I'll give you my ring size at the end of the season.

NCC is not #3. They lose to Ryle, Beechwood and Covcath. Sorry to my Bred friends, but last year is over. It's not 84. It's not 2005. You might be wanting for awhile for another one. There's always the year 2025.

Once again you have no clue what you are talking about.Your name should be (talks aimlessly) instead of free thinker. 3 out of the last 6 years the breds were in the state final.

1. Highlands

2. Covington Catholic

3. Beechwood

4. Campbell County

5. Simon Kenton

6. Ryle

7. Boone

8. Dixie

9. Newport Central Catholic

10. Newport

#4 through #8 are pretty even IMO.

After NCC beat SK and Dixie both. You could make the arguement for Campbell or Boone,But NCC should be above the rest.4 thru 8 that is,if you think Beechwood is a clearly better than those teams.

:flame: Stand on your own 2 feet there Hank and leave BIGZIG out of your apparent poor attempt to be funny.

Your joking right about Nevels or Lorenzen ? I'll agree with you on alot of what you just said , but when you went there .... WRONG ...! When your one of the Best players in NKY , you can play for anyone and still be one of the best . But when you have the team around you it takes things to another level ! You know that , I know that , and so does everyone else ! So don't blow smoke up there !:irked: But you do have some good points and I'll agree with most !:D

Unless the teams were playing the same schedule, what would that tell us?

Highlands

CCH

Beechwood

Ryle

NCC

Campbell Co

Simon Kenton

Boone Co

Newport

Holy Cross

Dixie probably somewhere in top ten but can't put them in with two blow out losses in first two weeks of the season
