July 21, 201610 yr It will be a low bar to hurdle for the Ds . There will be some missteps for sure. But every time this convention seems to get its act together, someone seems to crash and burn. Again, if you can't rein in your own convention, how are you going to run the government?
July 21, 201610 yr Author I just saw the video of Sen Cruz speech. His face was priceless. As @LIPTON BASH will remind me I was not a fan of the senator and thought he would NEVER last as long as he did. I was wrong. I must admit I have new found respect for him for a)standing up for the party that he thinks is off the rails and b)NOT endorsing the guy who linked his father to JFK's assassination and said some rough things about his wife. Kudos.

July 21, 201610 yr Ted Cruz's entire career in the senate has been stepping on toes and infuriating the members of his own party almost as much as Democrats. We can't possibly be surprised by this.

Trump signed the pledge to support the party nominee. Then sometime in late spring, there was another dustup with the RNC, all the other candidates said they were not going to honor their signed pledges so then Trump, who by then was ahead, so then Trump said he then would not honor his pledge. But he did sign originally with Reince Priebus at their much written about meeting with the RNC.
July 21, 201610 yr Cruz was and apparently still is the attack dog of the Bush's. His father does have murky connections to the Kennedy-era events and Cuba (his story of leaving Cuba is odd at best). His family money comes from oil. And he is married to a TBTF-connected Goldman-Sachs spouse. He is the most inside outsider there ever was. (Except for natural born Canadian thing.)
