July 15, 201610 yr I like your answer. Other Muslim Nations should take in the refugees. If they are good citizens there and vetted, we can take them. I don't want innocent Muslim women and children dying, but I do not want what that picture represents happening here either. Good is probably perceived differently in a Muslim Nation than here, no? Where do you start drawing lines?
July 15, 201610 yr I'm not sure where you're going to go with this, but it definitely could. It already has in the past. Oklahoma city, Trade Centers in the 90's.
July 15, 201610 yr My point was to show that you can't just "declare war on ISIS." So let's get to your point. How do we stop ISIS from setting up shop in Syria? Isnt that what we did with the Taliban?
July 15, 201610 yr I think this terrorism issue is looming larger and larger in the presidential election. If ISIS has one leader, what does he (I assume the leader would be male) want in terms of a resolution of this conflict or a peace treaty? Probably there is no answer or the answer is so abhorrent that there would be no way to negotiate a settlement to end the Jihad. So, is this going to be the new normal? What does ISIS want from the rest of the world? Has ISIS ever said what they want? If you stop ISIS, does that end all terrorism? Questionable.

No it doesn't.....but they definitely are not the JV team.

What does ISIS want from the rest of the world? Has ISIS ever said what they want? If you stop ISIS, does that end all terrorism? Questionable. We know what they want: global caliphate. And they've never given any indication that anything less is negotiable and I wouldn't believe them if they did. And no, that doesn't stop it. There was terrorism before ISIS. There was terrorism before Al-Qaeda. There was terrorism before the PLO and before Black September. It's foolish to think there ever won't be. This probably isn't the place, but for all the fear and all the horror, I think there's probably less terrorism on a broad level in Europe right now than at any time in the last 50 years. While the influx of Islamic extremists into the area has changed things, the last half-century has seen the disarmament of the IRA, the breakup of the Bader-Meinhof gangs and left-wing radical groups like them, accords with Basque separatists and the end of nearly 15 years of Balkan conflicts, just off the top of my head.
July 15, 201610 yr Did I say we do it in France? Where do they come from? Clyde let me leave you with this - That is a small child. There should be no debate about who or what caused this or what WE NEED TO DO, but sadly there is. We have politicians in this country that want to import this here......and they are probably going to win. I'll say that I disagree. We have politicians who want to help people, and we should lead the way and be an example for the rest of the world to follow. BUT, how do we do that? YES! YES, we need to fully vet anyone! THIS is where both sides of the isle need to calmly say that they want to work to safely vet anyone. BUT, so far this has been the sticking point, the "we don't want them here", "we don't want Muslims", "Ban all Muslins", and two days ago I saw some calling on a "test" to be given to all Muslims in the US to see what they are up to, to see who they support? THIS isn't getting us anywhere! Come on right wing politicians, calmly but loudly tell the left wing politicians "YES! We will work on allowing refugees in the US, work with us on legislation to vet anyone, not just refugees, vet anyone and everyone with a fine tooth comb, and we all will ensure that they will have a safe stay in the US". THIS is how we need to do this! The arguing, the yelling, from both sides isn't working and will never work, and at the same time it's even showing the overwhelming kind Muslim souls that are citizens of the US that they don't matter, it shows them that they no one gives a darn about them, which makes it even more dangerous, that even more people loose hope and see that they are treated as an outcast. And the outcast are who the terrorists target to at least be lone wolfs, kind of being taken out of the old KGB playbook to recruit spy's in the US, go after teens and 20 something people who think that they are outcasts, as they will want to "get back at the world". As far as the photo that you posted above, last night I saved the close up of that photo, and posted it. Sad, sick, horrible, BUT, the world needs to see it, sadly the entire world needs to see the blood, the horror, with no censoring. Millions of people around the world are suffering, and we, all who are not suffering need to work together to fix this! I belong to a large number of FB groups for the refugees, I am active in many of them, I now sponsor 3 Syrian kids in Lebanon to go to school, this isn't a one year deal, it's until they get out of school equivalent to HS, which is at least a 5-6 year commitment on all 3. I have hand delivered thick envelopes to both Hillary and Trump containing letters from refugees, a lot from refugee children (over 30k Syrian children have been killed in the past 5 1/2 years due to that war), and letters from volunteers, as well as many photos of them in what are basically like concentration camps. We need to pressure all politicians to help! Rockmom helps with refugees in the Louisville area, I help at times with some up here in and near Cincy. These are amazingly kind, gentle, caring and loving people, who are half a world away from home, and scared as a person can be, they had to flee their own country, and now in a place where at least some people don't want them, and where some want to harm them as much as the terrorists and Assad forces. All of the refugees in the Cincy area are families, if I'm not mistaken all the ones who have been vetted are families. Yes, vet! Spend as much money as needed to vet! I'm not apposed to allowing single males into the US either, as long as they are fully vetted. BUT, almost all of them do not want to be half a world away, they want to be close to home, in hopes that the war will soon end then they can go home. The people being vetted are parents who are doing what any parent in the world would do, to protect their kids. We all need to agree to help, assure the people that we all, the world led by the US assuring their safety! YES! YES, the US HAS to be the leader as the worlds police force! We have done is so very well back in the day, and once the people see that we again mean business, and they see that we will live up to our word and that we will never abandon them, then they will trust us and work as close to us as possible. On a similar note, think of a number of Muslims around the world as being like people who live in an intercity in the US, and a high crime or high gang area. Why don't many of those people report crimes? Why don't many of them come forward to assist the police? Well, it's because they are scared, they are scared that if they help out the police, help to put the bad guys away, that they will be in danger, that no one will protect them. Well, the refugees, and the ones still in their homeland are the same as those people, they need to be shown that we will protect them no matter what! Let's all work together! Let's all stop with this Christian vs non-Christian garbage! As not only is this the only way that we will end this problem, it's the way that God himself expects us to go at it! What about people like Enes Kanter? A Muslim, people respect and like him because he is an athlete l, BUT, he is one heck of a great guy! If he wasn't a good athlete would people harass him for being a Muslim? Sadly many would. What about FC Cincy's Omar Cummings? A Muslim. Do the people who see these athletes as good athletes give them a free pass solely based on their performance as an athlete? Sadly it appears that this is how many think. In closing, that photo above, what religion is that little kid? It doesn't matter! It's a horrific and sad scene! The same as the thousands of photos and videos or Middle Eastern children in war zones. It doesn't matter what religion these people who were dead on the streets of Nice are, and the sick person who mowed them down didn't care what religion that they were either.
July 15, 201610 yr I feel like you're making a pro-gun argument here and I know that's not your intent. But the pro-gun argument has always been, "bad people are going to find a way to do bad things, so why take good people's guns away". I know that's not what you meant, but that's exactly how this post reads to me. You see what you want. My post was trying to point out the absurdity of a gun control argument in thread about a terrorist using a truck.
July 15, 201610 yr Fareed Zakaria on CNN made an interesting comment on CNN a few minutes ago: France has one of the most radicalized sections of Islam and some indicate that it is a result of France's very secular society that prohibits some religious expression.
July 15, 201610 yr You and others have told me that ISIS is bad. I don't think any will argue that. What you and others have not said is how we the US of A should solve this problem. That's what I'm asking. I don't think it's a question for the common American to answer really. It's what our intelligence agency's and military leaders get paid to do. I will say, I think we'll have to wait on our new president to get anything substantial done.

That's what I'm asking. Heres how: Enough of the shying away from conflict garbage. If we want this to end, we need to develop a strategy that involves a combination of airstrikes and ground forces to overpower and squash any Isis strongholds. We know where they are. We know where they want to fight. They have told us they want to fight the US. Are there going to be some losses? Yes, there undoubtedly will be. But if we continue to let this disease fester, it will only get worse. We solve the problem by destroying their "capital," buy killing as many of those degenerates as possible. I don't know if it is logical to expect to kill every last one, but the ones we don't kill will constantly be on the run. They know that Americans, and others in the West, don't want to go to war. They know that they can continually push the envelope, and continually kill innocents, with relatively low consequence. Yeah, we might land an airstrike that kills a couple dozen, more if were lucky, but that doesn't phase them in the slightest. As long as we neglect to acknowledge what this, a war, we will continue to let them win. We might not call it a war, but make no mistake they have have declared war on us, Western Civilization. It is time for us to wake up and recognize this for what it is. It isn't going to go away without a defined and dedicated strategy, aimed at completely eradicating these heathens from the planet.

They've banned the burka in public and, if memory serves, the hijab has to be removed for identification, which are the sort of laws that wouldn't get past our First Amendment (though I'm increasingly weary of where we are headed on that mark). At any rate, I think the sentiment has led to a ghettoization of Muslims in France and other European countries, which isn't a recipe for integration.

July 15, 201610 yr Author You see what you want. My post was trying to point out the absurdity of a gun control argument in thread about a terrorist using a truck. Appears ifs frustrating when this one doesn't follow the narrative.
