Derek Willis Arrested in Boone County

From that link:

According to the arrest citation provided by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was dispatched to Mountain Laurel Way in Union, Ky., because of a possible drunk subject “laying in the middle of the street.” The deputy arrived to find Willis on the ground outside the open driver’s side door of a vehicle and reported a “strong odor of associated with alcohol” coming from the inside of the vehicle and Willis.

The deputy reported Willis said he had “a lot“ to drink and could not advise where he was other to say in “northern Kentucky” after being woken up. The citation reports Willis had extremely slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and “was a danger to himself and others.”

This is a textbook case of someone needing to go to jail for Alcohol Intoxication.

Let's face it everyone, he was probably driving drunk before the arrest and was going to drive drunk again once he woke up.

Good point about him potentially driving. You can't laugh that off.

we all know the legal age for drinking bottom line.

Which a lot of people have done.

If he was laying on the ground outside the car he should be glad they didn't charge him with a DUI.

It's not an excuse but , as Chris Rock says, I understand.

A great line of his that applies in so many instances.

Agree 100%. Where was anyone....anyone at all that may have had his best interest in mind...?

He is stupid. period. The people who let him leave are stupid also.

Coach Cal should make him

*go work with the Coroner for a week to see what he could have done to someone or himself.

*go work with the county morgue for a week to see what he could, have done.

* go work a week with funeral home to embalm and prepare body for burial to see how lucky he is to not be there.

Do we know he was driving?

I guess I am going to sound like the old man my son says that I am, but we have a public figure not yet of legal age who is passed out on the ground next to an open driver's side door who admits to having a lot to drink and only has a general idea as to where he is. I can't laugh that off like so many people are doing.

The more I am reading about it the more I think the axe from UK might be coming.

Do we know he was driving?

Doesn't matter.

He could have been hit and killed or someone could have swerved off the road trying to miss him and got hurt or hurt someone else.

AI or PI are the dumbest charges on the books.

Not dumb at all but also nothing to get all worked up about unless other charges are added.

Would there be video footage of this from the officer's cruiser cam? Interesting this arrest is not listed on arrest.org. Can arrests be omitted from this website?

The more I am reading about it the more I think the axe from UK might be coming.

Doubt it, but it wouldn't surprise me if he gets a pretty stiff penalty from it....I could see some suspension time, possibly even until after first of year....

I'd be very surprised.

UK has more talent lined up, they don't need him and this silliness, on with the next recruit. This isnt the football program.
