NHL Lightning/Penguins Series

Recommended Posts

Game 1: Bolts 3 Pens 1

Ben Bishop when out in the 1st period with, what looked like to me, a hyper-extended knee after he landed on it funny. He was out of the crease and was trying to get back in front of the goal when he lost his balance and the knee folded under him.

Coach Jon Cooper said x-rays were taken and the results came back negative.

21 year old Andrei Vasilevskiy came in and was steller, especially in the 3rd period when the Lightning could not seem to get the puck out of their own zone.

2 of the 3 Tampa Bay goals came on break aways as Alex Killorn and Ondrej Palat just skated past the Penguin defenders. Matt Murray (who is also just 21 and has been the star for the Pens in the playoffs) was just left hanging out to dry.

Ryan Callahan will probably miss game 2 after his hit on Chris Letang early in the game.

Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said, via Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, that Bishop is considered "day-to-day" with a lower body injury.

Hopefully he is able to play to full potential within a couple days. The Bolts have been hit hard enough with the injury bug.

Here's video of the Bishop injury.

Vasilevskiy starting in goal, tonight. Murray for the Pens.

Anton Stralman is expected to play tonight, and Steven Stamkos has been practicing in full gear. Rumor is, he could play in this series. If Bish is out for more than a game, the Bolts are going to need both.
