April 26, 201610 yr I totally agree. When him and Stephen A aren't there, the show is unwatchable. Skip does repeat himself a lot, but is good with SAS, don't know about solo though. Why oh why wont ESPN get rid of Vitale or Mike and Mike to name just a few? I watch or listen to the First Take podcast every day. Not one time has SAS been on the show without Skip. Skip will co-host with others, but not the other way around. SAS has let it be known since he accepted this position he would be out once Skip is out. From all accounts they have a strong affinity for one another.

April 27, 201610 yr I like Mike and Mike a lot... Many others agree with me. No way ESPN cuts their show...
April 27, 201610 yr Mike and Mike are one of the few things at ESPN delivering a huge return on investment. Not going anywhere unless they decide to do so. Used to love the Cold Pizza format and stayed with First Take for a long while. Once LeBatard took over for Colin, I made the switch as well. I know Dan and Stugotz aren't for everyone, but I LOVE the show...
April 27, 201610 yr I listen to Mike and Mike when i get the chance. I like how well spoken they are; I HATE how Disney/PC they are. I don't like that they talk about the NFL 80% of the time, and listening while they're talking about the NBA playoffs, when you know they are just getting a recap, is annoying. Whenever Greeny says "Hey gang" it reminds of a camp counselor. I like the fact they don't let Dick in Dayton call in and just spew whatver. Most callers are and sound very uneducated.

Those two revel in stupidity. When I listen, I feel like it is 2 am at the bar and I am listening to two guys arguing who should have stopped drinking and gone home hours ago.

I like the shows that approach sports from unexpected or unique angles. Loved Cowherd's show, and don't miss LeBatard. Some of it's over the top, but all in all it's far better than most programs.
April 27, 201610 yr PP92 can replace Skip in a heartbeat. Somebody make it happen. And would probably do it for a little less than $5m
April 27, 201610 yr There have been a lot of people leaving ESPN, but to me it doesn't matter. To me ESPN is about the sports not the talking heads. When Erin Andrews and Jenn Brown left, other ladies stepped up as sideline reporters, doesn't deter from me enjoying a game as long as they communicate the stories from the sideline I don't care. To me Skip Bayless wore me out with his Brett Favre filibuster a few years back, some of the grief and what kept Favre in the news wasn't Favre's doing but Bayless and ESPN needing something to talk about. Won't miss him, I used to enjoy watching the sport debate shows but got tired of the, the SNL parodies are better than the actual show

I just can't get myself to wade through the two hours and 30 minutes of Lebatard/Stugotz stupidity to make it to the 30 minutes of good content. The only time that show is any good is when they are interviewing someone. Any other time they are throwing jabs back and forth at each other it feels like Dumb and Dumber on the radio. The three worst sports talk radio guys ever for me are Stugotz, Andy Furman and Tim Lewis (Cincinnati local guy about 10 years ago)
April 28, 201610 yr @richarddeitsch From a reliable source: Fox Sports is paying Skip Bayless in neighborhood of $5.5 million per for four years, plus a $4M signing bonus.
April 28, 201610 yr Pretty amazing this guy made a career and made himself a multimillionaire by simply being a goof on ESPN. Just make up hot takes for people on the internet to get mad about and keep you relevant. What a world. Edited May 1, 201610 yr by mcpapa
