March 12, 201610 yr GW didn't steal the election, but he won without the popular vote which didn't sit well with over half the nation. Not to mention he had 8 horrendous years thrusting us into a nation-building war and a huge recession. And Clinton never won more than 50% of the popular vote. For all his glory in democrats eyes he never got the vote of even half the country. But as I've stated in other threads it's irrelevant because this a Democratic Republic not a democracy. In both GW and Clinton's case we got the winner right.
March 12, 201610 yr If You (conservatives) don't like the names don't be racist, sexist, (insert -ist word). Kind of naive to believe that these issues don't exist, and we need to go back the good ol' days. Good ol' days weren't great for a portion of the population. In some instances the good ol' days were oppressive, so you (conservatives) may not like it but times are-a-changing: Women have turned into the primary breadwinners and within this century white America will no longer be a majority and that's just to name a few. The fact that Trump is your (conservatives) BACKLASH says it all because from what he has given us he is the definition of any -ist you want to label him. I can't see people aren't going to just accept his message of returning to the good ol' days. Just because someone is a Conservative does not mean that they should be stereotyped as a racist, sexist, etc. That type of thinking is why we are in the mess we are in now.:(
March 12, 201610 yr Because they are fed up and want to make America great again. Thats laughable considering how they've been tearing it down for the last 7 years.
March 12, 201610 yr I am convinced there is not a human being alive that can unite our country - we are just divided to a point that I just don't see any way of being united again in my lifetime...and I am 52. We actually have many liberals who are fine with denying free speech to others...they are tolerant as long as you agree with them. If not, they feel they have the right to silence you...scary stuff. This has been going on at college campuses for quite some time (remember Condi Rice being disinvited to a college because some students complained?). Conservative speakers are often disrupted when they speak or flat out not allowed to speak at universities. Now we have the AG of the US (Lynch) actually saying that they are looking at targeting "climate change deniers" for possible criminal charges. Now that is about as scary a thing as I have heard about for some time... Back to the rally...this may very well help Trump. We will learn a lot about whether it does on Tuesday. You know people are getting very scared of him right now when they start doing this kind of stuff...and I don't mean the actual protestors...most of them are just pawns paid for...I mean the George Soros types. Like !!!!!
March 12, 201610 yr Thats laughable considering how they've been tearing it down for the last 7 years. Come on now, you know that was funny.
March 12, 201610 yr What a load of :poop:. The Democrats have promised those in poverty for years that they will give them more, more, more, while keeping their foot on their head to keep them down. Pretty much keeps a voting block in place. The Democratic Party is as "ist" as anyone on the Right. Like...
March 12, 201610 yr Nope. You liberals have been name-calling since the days of Reagan (& probably before). Bluto saying germans bombed pearl harbor was more correct. It was the repubs under newt who ran an open policy of "demonizing" the democrats. Repubs openly stated that they should not debate policy and instead should demonize. That was the open stated policy. Additionally, in speech and in policy, the repubs have discriminated against people of color and sought to capitalize on the division. That was admitted to by the former head of the RNC. That isn't liberal talk, all of the above comes straight outta the republican's mouth. Republican party a party of hate for decades, and it's coming unravelled. Good riddance to the GOP. quotes: "Some Republicans gave up on winning the African-American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization," Mehlman said at the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. "I am here today as the Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong. From gingrich's gopac video Often we search hard for words to help us define our opponents. Sometimes we are hesitant to use contrast. Remember that creating a difference helps you. These are powerful words that can create a clear and easily understood contrast. Well, guess what happened in 1992, folks, "Bubba" went back home to the Democratic Party and voted for Bill Clinton. He added that, even today, blacks "really don't have a reason" to vote for the GOP.
March 12, 201610 yr If I had to pick a date for the start of the great divide between the parties, I would pick somewhere in the early 1990's. I tie it to the Clinton presidency and the rise of Rush Limbaugh and the conservative media growth. It then grew to the Clinton impeachment and has been all down hill from there.

Now you've gone and done it.
March 12, 201610 yr Paid protesters. Even little Marco admits they were probably paid to go do that last night.
March 12, 201610 yr But people do protest at Bernie and Hillary rallies. At the same time, Trump supporters at his rallies have been violent on more than one occasion so it seems to me that violence is more the norm at Trump rallies than anywhere else. Why is it when Trump supporters at his rallies are violent it is okay but when protestors get violent at Trump rallies it is an issue? If you disrespect people don't be surprised when they disrespect you back?

I agree it's the Clinton's fault.
March 12, 201610 yr Back to the thread topic, Trump was asked this at the last debate: Do you believe that you've done anything to create a tone where this kind of violence would be encouraged? Some of your critics point to quotes you've made at these debates -- at these rallies including February 23rd, "I'd like to punch him in the face," referring to a protesters. February 27th, "in the good ol' days, they'd have ripped him out of that seat so fast." February 1st, "knock the crap out of him, would, you? Seriously, OK, just knock the hell. I promise you I will pay for the legal fees, I promise, I promise." What are everyone's thoughts on this side of it? Did Trump incite these protestors himself?
March 12, 201610 yr GW didn't steal the election, but he won without the popular vote which didn't sit well with over half the nation. Not to mention he had 8 horrendous years thrusting us into a nation-building war and a huge recession. I'm referring to the 1960 election between Nixon and Kennedy. Try to get my facts right, neither man got 50% of the vote, Nixon- 49.5 Kennedy- 49.7 and Nixon won the most states but Kennedy had more electoral votes. I think they were only separated by 90,0000 votes from 66,000,000 total votes cast. Nixon refused a recount even though some votes, part of which came from Chicago, were questionable. Nixon stated that he did not want to put the country through something so divisive. Horrendous years? Lyndon Johnson gave us the Vietnam War and lied about the Gulf of Tonkin altercation to get an excuse to send more soldiers to Vietnam. Check my facts, I lived it might not be quite perfect on the numbers but I do remember the facts. I have no idea what kind of facts are in Common Core textbooks.Debated the election at school. So that's why I said the 1960 election had problems and the Republicans ( Nixon himself) said let it go. And how was he thanked by the Democrats for it, they impeached him and removed him from office sort of. And I truly don't think Nixon knew about Watergate until after the fact and tried to cover it up. So, no, this goes back farther than 2000. As far as the recession, there's blame to go all around. Starting with the repeal of the Glass/Stegall act in 1999 during Clinton Administration. that's when savings money and investment money got lumped together through imaginative accounting practices. And we all lost big if we had retirement savings or a mutual fund or an annuity not protected with insurance and a guarantee of a definitive interest rate per year, no matter what the market did in 2007-2016. And yes Americans are angry if they lost everything. And very few people in Washington cared about the middle class white male blue collar worker and their anger is what makes Trump appealing to them. And no one has a right to take away freedom of speech.
