I was at both scrimmages and NCC's varsity beat both Dixie's and Simon's varsity.With that being said, Dixie and Simon will both be very good this year.I have no clue why people are being so crazy about this.Last year NCC beat Ryle in the regular season,They can play with any 4A team in NKY. in my opinion.Why does it have to be a disgrace to lose to a good program like NCC or Beechwood.It makes no sense to me at all.

If SK doesn't completley blow Lloyd out of the water they should be embarassed.

While I wouldn't say its disgraceful, I do think it should be embarrasing in my opinion because any 4A or for that matter 3A team should be able to field a team that is equally talented (because of the many more student athletes to choose from) and should have much, much more depth on their team (which gives the larger school a huge advantage). Highlands losing to Danville several years ago was embarrassing and should not have happened. And by the way, I'm talking a real game scenario, not 10 play scrimmages, with all the breaks and no kicking game involved. It should be a rarity when an A teams beats an AAAA or AAA team. I can understand the A team being within 10-14 points but they should not win more than 1 out of 10 games. And that win comes when the A team is loaded with talent and the AAAA or AAA team is down that year.

If the advantage in numbers that a 4A or 3A team possesses over a 1A team, means that the larger school should win 9 out or 10 times and should be embarrassed if they don't, then how should Lou St X feel if they lose to Highlands this year? I remember the score and I'm not surprised that somebody who lives in Louisville believes what you believe. I want to know if somebody who lives in Fort Thomas agrees with you!

It is not disgraceful however.............NKY 4A teams should strive to be to the point where they are using scrimmages against the better 1A teams to fine tune their offense and defense and not be in any kind of decision mode on starters.........if they want to hang with the X's and T's.

 

How to do accomplish that? Get the roster numbers up early and keep them up. No classes with "holes" in them (e.g. 30 Srs, 12 Jrs). Schedule competitive JV and Frosh games. Low coaching turnover, off-season programs, youth programs etc.

I don't know that I agree with that. Some 1A schools are loaded with talent and great coaching and can hang with just about anyone in the state.

 

 

Beechwood and NCC can't compete with T & X.

NCC is a defending state champ and Beechwood has allways been a power house in NKY so I think ether one of those teams could beat any one at any time.

 

 

You need to check out T & X if you believe that; there may have been 1 or 2 years in the last 25 where Beechwood or NCC could stay within 21 points of either one.

Key word here is scrimmage , that's all it was . 1st qter Dixie 14 Ncc 0 ! Sub's and players they are looking at come in the game and a couple Dixie mistakes . All of a sudden NCC is a better team , I don't think so ! Will see week two how strong 1A will be I guess .Dixie has 77 "V" and JV players they are looking at , how many does NCC , Ludlow or B-Wood have to look at ?

You should be embarrassed that you started this thread! Everyone knows that No KY has great single A programs and you to base your thread on scrimmage games? You do understand the word "scrimmage", right? I believe Dixie vs. NCC was 2 tds to 0, Dixie winning varsity vs. varsity after one quarter, but you base your thread on the final? I guarantee Tom Spritzky did not lose any sleep after losing a scrimmage to a single A team. Dixie plays Beechwood in a few weeks and if the Tigers should prevail, I know it won't be an embarrassment to our program. Beechwood has a storied tradition and it is an honor to play them. I should be embarrassed that I am taking this much time to reply to your comments! :madman:

 

 

Coach Spritzky said after the scrimmage that he was not happy-losing sleep-probably not.

I was at the Boone game!! They played well against Beechwood. Nothing to be embarassed about!!

 

I believe the first touchdown of the game was Boone County running the initial kick off back for a touch down!

Boone, if they are good, should not lose to Beechwood, no matter how good Beechwood is.
