NKY 4A- embarassing?

Featured Replies

Dixie vs NCC's starters' score was NCC28- Dixie 21. You are making excuses.

No excuses need to be made for a scrimmage.

I think you're taking these scrimmage a bit too seriously.

And as far as GOOD 4A teams losing to 1A teams, you're giving the numbers way too much credit. Look at Manual in 03 agaisnt Danville. They straight up lost that game. And it wasn't anything to be ashamed of, because if I remember, it seemed like Danville- while yes, a A school, still had just as many players as Manual. And I believe they won state that year.

Manual should have more players and should beat Danville, if they are a good 4A school.

I would say that it has something to do with the fact that AAAA schools in NKY have upwards of 1500 STUDENTS. Where Trinity and X have upwards of 1500 BOYS . . . . . . .

I could care less about public/private blah, blah, blah. But it doesn't take a genius to realize that there is a difference between the two.

And Beechwood only has about 150 boys from 9-12, only about 100 to choose from for the Varsity squad.

Compared to the 4A schools' 700+.

I was at both scrimmages and NCC's varsity beat both Dixie's and Simon's varsity. With that being said, Dixie and Simon will both be very good this year.I have no clue why people are being so crazy about this.Last year NCC beat Ryle in the regular season,They can play with any 4A team in NKY. in my opinion. Why does it have to be a disgrace to lose to a good program like NCC or Beechwood. It makes no sense to me at all.

If the NKY 4A teams are REALLY good, and want a chane to beat X or T, they should not lose to ANY 1A school, no matter how good.

How come the numbers for these 4A schools in NKY aren't working to their advantage like they claim it works for X and T's advantage????

No solutions?

Two years ago Dixie was waxed by NCC in a scrimmage 28-0. Would you care to guess how Dixie faired against T that year?

I'm making excuses ! I think I know when where RUNNING in and out players that there looking at for different positions . But if it make's you feel better, NCC win's the SuperBowl Scrimmage this year !:p You need to start watching the game alittle more !

Did Dixie come close to winning the State Title? They lost to Boone who lost to Scott Co. who lost by about 5 TD's to X in the finals.

T apparently was not a typical T team that year.

I watched it quite closely.

So you are telling me Dixie subbed a whole buch, and NCC didn't?

You just refuse to give NKY 4A any credit at all. When they win a game you don't expect them to win you chaulk it up to weakness in their opponent instead of strength on the part of NKY 4A. Last year in a supposedly down year NKY 4A was 2-2 against Lou 4A in the first round of the playoffs. Two years ago NKY 4A was 3-1. Three years ago they were 2-2. NKY 4A has shown that they are every bit as good as Lou 4A except for T, (and X and H) but the gap between T ( and X and H) is closing as evidenced by the fact that in a good year NKY 4A can knock off T.

In playoff games in the past 5 years T is 21-1.

I watched it quite closely.

The first two series no , after that yes . NCC, it looks like it did after the 3rd or 4th series . Just checking #'s . It seemed like they stayed with there starters alittle longer then Dixie . Dixie has 77 to 80 players to look at , how many did NCC have to look at in scrimmages ??

Manual should have more players and should beat Danville, if they are a good 4A school.

I don't have any program from that game, but on the feild the sea of blue was just as great as the sea of red. And since Manual is an academically inclined school, the pull of athletes isn't quite as great. Of course, the team that year was a complete mystery. They go out and lose to Danville in the first game. Go and are beating the stuffing our of Eastern in the first half of the next game, only to have Eastern come back and win. Then they beat Trinity who goes on to win state. Manual doesn't even have a winning season that year (first and only time since '98). So you can argue what kind of team they were that year. On the otherhand, I still say the numbers argument, while logical, isn't a certainty, especially for a team like Danville, who often has several great athletes that can run the stuffing out of other teams for the entire game.

I watched the game plenty close; Dixie didn't score an offensive TD after the first two drives, and Bricking and Molony and the big "O" line played plenty after the first two offensive series as well as the defense. This isn't the NFL; coaches play their starters in scrimmages much more than 2 series.
