How are you liking this club? I'm thinking about getting a driving iron, too.

 

Mixed results but getting better. It's a nice club and I would recommend it and I think I am getting more consistent with hitting it, but I'm still a little hit and miss with it. When I hit it well it's all good, but I still have a tendency to hit it off towards the toe...that's not the club, that's all on me. I need to just break down and get a bucket of balls and just hit that club one night at the range. I hit balls on the range very rarely now, preferring to just walk and practice on the course.

 

The club itself is a 2 iron/hybrid style. I had it made at Hireko golf, they are very reasonable. It's a component manufacture. Also ordered my iron heads and shafts from them too, though I had the driving iron completely assembled by them, ordered my irons and shafts separately and had my club pro assemble those for me. Looks like I'm getting 10 yards more with the RAC irons.

I didn't mean it to sound like humblebrag, and your post made me feel badly for how I worded it. Sadly, at least in my case, my yardstick for golf is when I was playing at my best, and struggling to find the club-face isn't fun. I'm actually shocked @jahearme hasn't shown up at my door yet wanting a high-stakes game with me only getting 4 strokes...I'd fund his vacation.

I knew I hadn't seen him on here in a while...but gosh didn't realize it had been THAT long.

The weather cancelled the second day of our annual invitational tournament at Sag Hollow in Booneville this past weekend. Prizes were awarded to those leading the 6 flights after the first day of play. We've never had a cancellation in the 10 years the tournament has been held but there was no way around it this time. We had over 3 inches of rain Sunday morning in about 3 hours, putting Buck Creek that runs through our course, into what looked like a small river. Several fairways were flooded. The rain ended around 11am and the cancellation decision was made at 2 pm when it was obvious that the course could not possibly drain enough to finish the tournament.

I hated to see it finish that way but these things happen sometimes. The Championship Flight was lining up to be a dandy with former Kentucky Open winner Trey Bowling leading with a 70, followed by two time Kentucky State Am champ Eric Mason at 71. Robert Smith was also at 71, and four time Sag Hollow winner Randy Osborne at 72. Bowling was declared the winner based on his first day score.

I wouldn't play anyone for money right now. It's really bad. Getting ready to take my 7 year old out for a round, maybe I can handle him. Maybe.

I live next to the 5th fairway so I'm at the course all the time. I'd be pleased for the BGP golfers to come play Sag Hollow and give me some feedback as to what you think of it. It's been open since 2007.

6,900 from the tips for two rounds on the 9 hole layout built on 100 acres. Brand new bent greens installed last fall. I think you'll like it. I'll see that my BGP gang gets a special rate on the day you choose to come.
