When the All BGP team thread is more concerned with K/P selections, I think that signifies a job well done!

 

It's only that way because of one person, who won't get over it.

Don't beat yourself up. A good man that I know runs a high quality AAU program. My son is a sophomore and I just want him to play for an AAU program that will help him become a better player and not push him to the side just because he isn't a player with D-1 potential. While discussing my son I told him that I know how I feel about his abilities but I don't want to pump him up to be something that he isn't. He then told me, "that's your son, you have a right to believe he is the best player in the world."

 

I hate that you didn't nominate him because it sounds like Jared Dougherty is very deserving of a spot on the All BGP team. I hope it isn't something that you feel tarnishes his season or his talent. This can be a learning lesson for us all and I hope that people who read this thread have learned that anyone can nominate any player for this team. Never count on someone else to do the nominating for a player you feel is deserving. You'll end up disappointed.

Nah. Not doing that. Honestly have so much else going on in life that it never really crossed the mind. Not that big of a deal as he will still have the chance at this dream of playing college football at a pretty high level.

Congrats to all that made the team, but I'm really happy for Maleek Lawrence and Trent Wrobleski of NewCath.

Looks good to me... All the ones I saw in person were deserving.

It's a very solid list, great job. As far as Daugherty goes even though he didn't get the nod the fact that everyone is talking about him speaks volumes. In the end his dedication and hard work will payoff. He has a special gift, kicking a ball as far as he does is not something just anybody can do.

Great job and tough job to fill the 36 slots. This is the most selective State-wide team of all and getting on it means players really, really did something special.

 

I would have like to have seen Andy Thompson from LexCath on there in ATH. He did it all for the Knights this year on offense (receiver, RB and QB) and kick and punt returns. But when names like Alstatt, Daniel and Robbins on in the ATH category its a real tough ticket to punch on this exclusive team.

 

Congrats to all on the team and many who had to be right there when the final team was chosen.

Did you nominate anyone from Mayfield? I doubt any were nominated, usually I do nominate some of ours but I did not this year because I didn't feel like we had anyone this year that was the best in the state at their position

The lack of any players from Mayfield was discussed. I'm glad you posted what you posted, because that was almost exactly the thoughts and rational expressed by those on the committee. Mayfield was a great team with some great players and when you put them all together you win a lot of games. But, Mayfield lacked anyone that was the number one player in the state at their respective position or players that would be chosen over the players on the ATH list.

Great team--I know the amount of work that goes on to get to the best players possible at each position, so much appreciation to the committee for your time watching film, etc.

 

Will say as the only surprise that none of Male's or Trinity's OL or DL on there. Thought they--along with the Dorsey kid from Manual--were some of the most impressive big guys I've ever had to prepare for.

 

Wondering if maybe they weren't nominated? I'm not criticizing the committee--they may not have gotten to see film on them.

 

(Also, want to be careful not to take anything away from those OL/DL on the team. I saw many of them in person at State Finals or on film--watching Jackson and Young on TV in Army All-America game as I type this--and they are QUALITY players. Just wondering if those Male/T/Manual guys were nominated too I guess.)
