The question, and a fair one, is if he is better than Jared Daugherty. How do they compare?

I would consider them both very good, possible great, high school kickers. Pack is stronger, in my opinion. Pack's leg strength is what separates him from other kickers. He is bull of a kicker and is probably more strength then finesse. He has shown his ability to kick (and punt) great distance. I think Pack was more of an asset to his team then Daugherty. That's not a saying Daugherty was not great, it is just saying Pack's ability was more vital to his team.

 

Both are good, only one can make the All-Bluegrasspreps teams, just like one QB and one Punter.

There is a committee that decides the members of the All-BGP team. Those members watched film of the players, and in many cases saw the players in person. Stats are great and I would love to provide them for you, but as you know, many teams do not report stats such as: number of touchbacks, yardage of kicks and punts and hang times. For kickers and punters, the committee has to rely on observation more so then stats. So generalities from observation is as best as we can do.

Never mind.

He holds two state records: longest FG and longest punt from scrimmage. He is a very accurate and strong kicker who put the majority of his kickoffs in the end zone which greatly benefited his teams ability to stop their opponents from scoring making them drive 80 yards on virtually every possession following a kick off. Plus, even though he made the team as a kicker not a punter, he was an asset to his team by being a strong punter who commonly pinned the opposition deep in their own territory further benefiting his teams ability to stop the opposing team from scoring by making them driver further after a punt.

So making this all star team is about having the longest field goal and longest punt or is it about the numbers you put up THIS year. The comments you make about kickoffs could be said about more kids in this state than you could ever imagine. Was there some sort of statistic that was maintained for that? How about the 2 kids that are currently ranked in the top 5 all time for career PAT's in the state of Kentucky? Both of these kids also had in excess of 50 consecutive PAT's in a row and one of them had 11 field goals this year. Honestly, I know what it is all about when it comes to the kicking game and gaining recognition. This summer go take a gander at the individual kicking statistics for the state of Kentucky and tell me how many times you see someone from Johnson Central and how many times you see one from Highlands.

Have you considered including players even if they weren't nominated? We do not have complete geographical representation on BGP so it's possible a worthy candidate may be excluded.

I watched film of some of the players I hadn't seen. From this review, Jordan Meredith (OL) of BG has great footwork and agility for a big guy.

Most of the nominations we get are not even from BGP Members. Anyone can nominate a player including relatives.

So we can't say who we thought was maybe a miss and get some input. We are only allowed to pat the players and the people who created the team on the back? That doesn't seem very objective or American.

To me the linemen are the hardest to pick. Once you get past the big 3 of Young, Willis, and Jackson it starts getting tough.

Tucker Mueller DL from Simon Kenton is a glaring omission on this team. He is definitely better than 2 of the choices.
