I'm more shocked at PRP being 4th then I am with the order of the Big Three. So these rankings say that there isn't a 4A team in the state better than PRP? Sounds a little suspect to me.

 

BTW, last years pre-season nod turned out to be a curse. Its all yours Red.

PreSeason polls are for us... the fans. Doesn't mean a thing. Something to look at during July. Bama was preSeason pick # 3 four years ago and we won 5 games. So I learned my lesson, "one game at a time".

I agree about the ranking but in the big picture...only really matters where you are on Dec. 1, 2006!!!

Not sure the old or the new system is "corrupt", but take care of business and just WIN BABY WIN.... Winning solves alot of problems, it actually eliminates 85% of all problems.... if you never loose, then 99% of your problems are solved..... Simply put, JUST WIN!!!!!!!!

I don't think last year's was a curse. The preseason number one took care of business in all but the most important game.

 

As someone else pointed out, these rankings are for the fans to pass the offseason. It matters only what you're ranked after the first weekend in December.

I think the powers to be here are saying the win over X in the title game was a fluke. Fair enough.

 

But Male has done nothing to deserve a #1 ranking, even with all the talent they have had since 2000 (has it been that long). They might win it all in Dec, but no way I would put them preseason #1.

 

I would put X first. End of story. They will have their best O-Line ever (at least better than last year’s which was supposed to be their best ever), one of the top 3 RB’s in the state, and a very good QB. Add a great soph RB to the mix (he's the real deal), and this offense is primed. Their D is always sound. Add in the loss to T in the finals... Come on. They have all the pieces and more than enough motivation.

 

T loses 3 terrific targets for Petrino. 1 WR is back. We also lose our 2 RB's which really made the offense fly. And we lost senior leaders from the O-line. 2 of the top 3 DB's in the state (WR and RB on O) are gone. The d-line is thin again because of graduating senior o-linemen that went both ways. The LB's should be OK, but they can only do so much without a d-line. I would put T at 3 behind X and Male. We do have a great punter, which should help early in the season. Of course this is only preseason.

Oops. I get the all male Catholic high schools in Louisville confused all the time.

Just look to see who has the most state championships in state history and you will see us all the time.

My dawgs preseason number 1. Surprising but I will take it even though rankings do not matter. The only thing that matters is how you handle yourself and keep that number 1 rankings. The bullseye looks to be on our chest this year.
