Male ranked over T & X: let the fur start flying!

Featured Replies

I can believe that Male is the best team in the state and at the same time believe that the Rocks will defeat them if they meet in the third round.

Theres a joke there somewhere. :D

Not that I'm an X supporter, but after watching Male play on Friday night, I think X will beat them in regular season. PRP should not even be ranked in the top 20 in 4A. X has the o-line and backs that can run with Male and Male's DB's can be beat with easy. Just because you might be a referee, don't let that yellow flag blind you....

I agree that PRP was overrated going into this game. The game against X in a few weeks will be a real test, although I'm not convinced the Tigers can throw all that well.

Was anyone aware that the JR QB for X is a pretty good baseball player? Granted there is a difference in the size of balls, but he has a good (strong) arm. Male now has been for warned...

As far as why I think that we will beat Male? I think we have an uncanny ability to get penetration on defense, this allows us to get in the face of the QB or even get him down, it also shortens the width of the field. This minimizes the ability for the offense to get the edge on us. All the while, it relieves the pressure on our db's. Now, offensively, we are considerably balanced, the o-line has really started to gell, Tim Phillips is playing great, Nick now looks like his old self again. OUr receiving core is not as star studded as that 2002 team, BUT from top to bottom is much more solid. The way that our offense is designed, it gives Male's defense matchup issues in that they dedicate themselves to man pressure in a short setup, meaning that almost all of their defenders are within the first ten yards. If we bunch up, of stack our receivers that's a lot to expect high school db's to be able to handle (a zone would be much simlper). Now, in 2001, you had Barclay, Bush, Spencer, etc....I don't think that Male's defensive secondary is nearly as savvy (for lack of a better word)....Add to that our kicking game is top notch. I think that gives us an edge.

That's great. I could throw a baseball pretty darned well too. But that made me no QB.

Pass???? You mean X is allowed to pass!!! This puts a whole new meaning to the game. Why, if X occasionally passed they could....:D

Yeah, I know 133 is a big number with one in every sport.

I believe that LSURock, BGP, and myself were speaking about this year,2006, that Male seems to be the team to beat. Drew Riddle and Chris Redman have exhausted their elgibility. 9 different people scored for Male against PRP-Wow!!

Why the vitriol sent my way?

I answered a question from a Male poster about this years team compared to the team that won the championship in 2002 thus my comparison to McBroom. I made a mistake regarding the year, was corrected by a fellow Trinity guy and replied to his correction (all in a tongue in cheek fashion). I don't understand the need to rebuke me as you did?

H, I would agree that based only on Friday nights showing against Male; PRP looks overrated. But, bear in mind they lost there leadership by not having their starting QB on the field.

I'm not trying to take away anything from Male's impressive victory ..... Male is a good team! They would have won this game with or without PRP having their sarting QB. Male will be a definite challenge for the Tigers in 2 weeks. X will have to bring their "A-GAME" to come away with a victory.

H and QB42, from my vantage point in Friday nights game the problem wasn't with X's ability to throw the ball; it was their ability or lack of ability to catch the ball. 2 of the 3 incomplete passes were dead on the money. Of course as jimmyref always says, "Those ones that hit ya in the hands are the hardest ones to catch".

And look where you are now.......Based on what BirdieCat says, it appears to be X's recievers, not the arm of Zoeller. Zoeller's a good kid, he just needs to know he has the full support of X's staff. Do you know if Ben played the entire game against Manuel?

All but the last 2 plays of the game. Wade came in with :58 on the score board.

Coach Glaser made the decision in between the radio show and kickoff to start Ben. He played the entire game minus the last series.

Sorry if I offended you. I didn't go to T or X so I had to look up vitriol!!

I was just speaking about the 133 state championships that X has won.
