While we lost some serious talent at receiver. This year's whole core could be much better, as there truly is speed everywhere. The Dutton twins can flat fly, and add to that Flynn's glue hands, I like it.

I think o-line will be exceptional this year with three starters returning. Normally when that occurs at Trinity, a good year is in store.

Since most of the Trinity supporters have posted , I feel compelled to add my two cents worth. Jr to be Donavan Sims is enrolled at Trinity. He has moved from Jeffersonville and is awaiting word on his eligibility for this season. I understand soph Carrico was moved to RB yesterday. If Kirksey and Phillips progress, then the RB position will be filled. Coach Coverdale will use empty backfield sets more often this season. I feel Petrino gives the Rocks the edge as the only returning starting QB of the big three. I believe the AP poll will reflect this.

 

Male's JVs were not impressive last season in the two games I witnessed. The 9 man front defense Male uses will work against most schools, but not all. The last time Male won $a, they had Jones and Bush and I don't see any D-1 skill folks besides Beaumont and he is in the same boat as Anderson as far as size.

St. X will be hard to beat in their district as usual and they have talent at RB and both lines. I was told QB Zoeller is healthy by the head man himself at the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association banquet last Friday.

I still think it is a shame that we can discuss how this team is better or that team has better coaching that ONLY 1 team from Male, Manual, PRP, Ballard, X and Trinity will emerge out of the 3rd round. The survivors of BGP ranked 1,2,3,4 will meet at Papa John's in the third round with a great turf so speed will emerge. I see Trinity playing Male then.

Male against St. X is often a great game. And like jimmyref mentioned about with how many starters Male has coming back vs. how many X has, one would actually assume Male will win this year. I hadn't realized earlier just how many people Male had coming back. I'm understanding the hype. This is no knock to X however. They've had some excellent JV and Frosh teams lately, and should reload nicely.

I think this year, more than the past 'couple' , X will run,run,run. With a smaller but more agile and agressive line and Vic, Duece and Eckman in the backfield, I don't think a lack of a big passing game is going to be the determining factor in most games. All they will want to do is throw an occasional pass to keep the defense honest. Don't be fooled though, with Passafiume and a couple of the juniors, I think we will be able to catch a couple of balls this season.

Male does not have a Michael Bush, so again, X will defeat Male in the same fashion as last year. Better athletes doesn't always equal a win. Look at X and T, you can't tell me they've had better athletes than the public schools. Besides talent, you need discipline, heart, knowledge of the game and last but not least, a Head Coach like Beatty. Last I checked, T has a few RB who are not sophmores (transfers - what's up with that) who will run over people.
