Big effort to not panic when the other team has the ball the whole first quarter and has run 20-something plays to 7. That is good coaching and on the field leadership.

As a NKY guy, I am sorry to hear the Breds didn't pull it off. I must say that I didn't expect the score to be close. Thinking about how BW handled NCC, I thought it would be another lopsided victory. Guess that's why I am commenting here and not professionally.

What this Mayfield team may have lacked in sheer playmakers, they made up for with their mental makeup. Very mentally tough team that never let an opponents big play take over the momentum in any game they played.. This team was down 6 or 7 times this year and in all but one, they came back and you'd have never known they were down and they would methodically come back and take control. Very mentally tough team..

The great thing is, Mayfield returns their QB and RB-Trajon and 3 of those stud LBs, so, if nothing else, they'll have some nice skilled players to build around next year.. And surely they'll have a few more lineman than they had this year..

Well .. awsome job to the cards on a good season .. good game ncc... now.... I hate doing this but if this game had been played any of the last two game an maybe the third we would NOT have been in position to win a title... !! We played so flat! D fence did great job.. but this game was flat.. NCC nutralized wat offense we showed up with but this was a very poor effort ! I'm sry an may be bashed , but like I see it.. desales would have ate our lunch... !!! Oc woulda done the same!! It was enough to win but nothing more.. it's another ring, an another number on our wall ... so I'm greatfull.. NCC can be accredited for stopping our offense yes... but that was no effort by us either... Ray Charles could see that.. ... the so called muffed punt was not that at all .. the way I seen it was ncc guy tried to back away when the ball bounced an followed him bouncing off his left leg as the ball rolled to the goal line when Mafield jumped on it .. not muffled at all!... like I said .. great full we were victorious but very flat appearance. .

I was glad to see us go to the passing game when the running game just wasn't working at all due to them straight man handling our offensive line. Sometimes we just keep trying and keep trying when its just not there. So nice change there. That's the most we have had to pass in a long time. #3 for NCC was a really impressive back too. Quick, good vision and deadly out in space. The better team won though. Pride and tradition.

I think many make the mistake of thinking that non-district games and even early rounds of the playoffs are true indicators of the final product. Especially in small schools the rotation gets very tight the deeper it gets in the playoffs. Sure kids want to win every game and give great effort but guys that go both ways may only play anywhere between 50-70% of the snaps in a non-district game and it may be 100% in this game. Big difference.

NewCath played better than I expected. No free td for mayfield and a play or two here or there and they could have easily won this game. Very proud of the Breds. Congrats to Mayfield.

NCC was a fine team. They stopped the run for sure. Mayfields defense was lights out.

maybe they will move up to 3A next and win that one too.

Don't forget we also had a touchdown called back, not saying it was a bad call, I didn't see it, still hurt us.
