Rematch. Last year CAL stopped mayfields run of state championships in good fashion winning 48-24 at home. This year they travel to War Memorial for a final four show down. Should be a classic!!! Thoughts and predictions? What are the keys to the game?

I sure hope you’re right. It’s not hard to see one side of our secondary is extremely susceptible to big plays and being picked on. If things don’t change next Friday will be a long night.

As for the game, I agree. Easily could have been a shut out. I thought we would have been fired up for this game but we started so sluggish. Took us a long while to get out of it. What was with the drive though Either right before half or after. First there was an early snap then two qb draws back to back. I’m so glad we came out firing second half because the first was hard to watch. We will need that second half fire both halves next week to win.

Forecast was for steady rain. Today it’s dropped down to maybe a 10 percent chance with a low of 55. Should make for a great football atmosphere. Cards by 21

I meant more so out of the top 5 or 6. Which side is more heavy. Who’s Gonna have the toughest battles in that third and fourth round?

Does anyone have any information on the dates for the championships? I heard they had been moved to Lexington. Hopefully Mayfield makes it, but even if they don’t I would still go and want to plan ahead.

I’m just not sold on us getting that 4th round win, let alone a championship with Stinson as the QB. I don’t bash kids but I’ve watched him very closely the last couple of games. He just doesn’t read the plays. Against McCracken I watched him throw into double coverage multiple times when he clearly had someone wide open on the other side of the field. Even people in the stands are yelling and pointing. And this is with plenty time to throw. No rushing or anything. You’ve got to look at the field. You can’t zone in on a receiver from start to finish. Read the field. I know you have go to routes on every play. But maybe just maybe the defense is better suited for that route and someone else’s assignment will suit the play better. We have to do better there. And it starts with coaching.

Congrats to Cal. Wright was as advertised. Beast on the field. As for mayfield. Nothing to hang low about. All good, great, historic things must come to an end eventually. We had a great run. Time to start a new streak. Remember: Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it

Watched the highlights. And I hate watching highlights because you never get the full picture. He's fast. Probably faster than bright. But then again I've been told by players bright isn't even the fastest on the team. We have speed everywhere, and that more times than not neutralizes one fast person on the opposing team. Is he scary fast? I don't think so. Seems to have good breakaway speed though once he gets out in the open. The defenses in those highlights, the 5 of 6 I watched, were horrible though. That black and green team. Then the Washington County. Just sad. Not breaking down, trying to arm tackle, it was ridiculous. Don't even get me started on the special teams. You will NOT see that from mayfield. They are going to put the hit on you for sure. Again, he's a good player. Now I didn't see the highlights from Desales which seems like where he would have done damage against a real defense. But I'd say he's the player we normally see from a good McCracken county Team or Caldwell team in recent years where they have had a standout ATH. Still like us for the simple fact we can do everything on the field, and we can defend everything on the field. Go Cards.

Seems the Arnett suspension will hold from what I can see. How much if any will that affect the game. He's crucial to defense, but I also know someone will be fired up ready to step in for him. Coach Joe will have a plan.

Anyone have links on game footage of CAL. Would like to check it out. Seen some highlights, but obviously that makes everyone look good.

Could Arnett actually miss more time because of the ejection last night? Never really see this in HS.

I've seen us do great things in the rain. I would assume the team with the best run defense would favor better in the rain though. Even still unless it's just absolutely pouring I expect us to still get the ball in the air. Way too many receivers and weapons out there not to.

I thought that too. Ncc did a lot of hitting after the whistle and grabbing players after plays, pushing ect. Faking being pushed to refs. Classy

I was glad to see us go to the passing game when the running game just wasn't working at all due to them straight man handling our offensive line. Sometimes we just keep trying and keep trying when its just not there. So nice change there. That's the most we have had to pass in a long time. #3 for NCC was a really impressive back too. Quick, good vision and deadly out in space. The better team won though. Pride and tradition.

He touched the punt and then Mayfield jumps on it as it bounces into the end zone. That's a touchback?

Know nothing of NCC. What's their deal? Strengths? Style?

So glad that we were able to keep the ball away from #3 as well as we did. He was FAST! Gosh he could have made a way bigger difference alone if he had touched it more...q
