As a Cardinal fan I can't help but already be excited about next year. Stop and look at what we return. That's scary good for us. Losing receivers and kicker. Receivers are a deep spot. Kicker is going to hurt though. Oh well Back to enjoying this one for now

Oh this one went beyond Cov. It's a emergency meeting of Oboro, Louisville and Cov Diocese. Cards were hard on the Catholics taking out 3 back to back to back

Game reminded me a lot of the Mayfield/Murray game.. I think the Tigers had the ball the entire 1st qtr except for 3 plays.. NCC did basically the same.. Mayfield scored a late 2nd qtr TD against the Tigers and did so again today..

Very proud of this team for stepping up to 2A and making a statement. New Cath is a solid team and played great defense today. We made jus enough plays when New Cath didn't. Again, our defense won this game for us like they have the past few weeks. Offense wasn't clicking but made enough plays to get the job done when it counted. Very glad to be a part of this program!

Louisville is an Archdiocese. Also, I dunno how Owensboro or Convington would react but none of the clergy in Louisville would attend that meeting unless you beat Trinity. :lol2:

Is roving back its hard to post. But I do want to say NCC accounted for themselves very well. Great game they we're tough as nails today

You will never convince me that either team takes that "out of district" game lightly. I think the games are generally a good indicator of how those teams will fair in the post season.

 

That said, I'm glad I was wrong. I only wish NCC proved me completely wrong and won it all.

 

 

 

I think many make the mistake of thinking that non-district games and even early rounds of the playoffs are true indicators of the final product. Especially in small schools the rotation gets very tight the deeper it gets in the playoffs. Sure kids want to win every game and give great effort but guys that go both ways may only play anywhere between 50-70% of the snaps in a non-district game and it may be 100% in this game. Big difference.

Way to go Mayfield. A tremendous accomplishment for this team, and of course the senior class. This team won games playing about every style possible and against every type of opponent.

 

Today's game was kinda bleh, as much as winning a state title can be bleh (Translation: it was a lot of fun). Their defensive line (NCC's) really stood out, and that kept the game close, but from my biased perspective there is "close, and the outcome of the game is in serious contention" and "close, but a win appears pretty likely." This felt like the latter.

 

Mayfield's defense came ready to hit today, lots of big time hits with the tackles. Seemed to me to be a lot of activity after the whistle, as if NCC watched a bunch of Murray film and took notes.

 

This team was a lot of fun to watch, I think the turning point of the season was the comeback against Caldwell. Just felt like, seemed like, smelled like that after that, the boys just were not going to let themselves lose a game.
