What an awesome football game. Even in the rain, both crowds showed up, and we're very vocal. Two awesome football teams slugging it out, DeSales winning first half and with the great adjustments, flying defense, in the second half, mayfield refused to loose! I said we could put 30 on them on a dry field and I stand by that! DeSales coached and played hard, and what a class program, mad respect for you guys. Your fans are awesome to. GO BIG RED!

Congrats to Mayfield, you move up a classification and don't miss a beat. :thumb:

Impressive

Typically, when someone is video recording a game, they do so either above the press box or in the upper level around midfield, not way over in the scoreboard end zone section.. That's the 1st time I've ever seen one from that angle.. Just curious why you didn't try and get more toward the middle of the field..

 

Most teams now use an end zone camera to supplement the press box camera. It's better for showing alignments, footwork etc.

Got to watch as much as this game as I could on the broadcast... Seemed like DeSales was clicking early and then had some head scratching playcalls. It took Mayfield a series or two to get adjusted to their size and what kind of scheme they were wanting to attack. The Mayfield defense was lights out after that. Also, it seemed like they got Bright going a little earlier than they did last week. He was having more room to operate and you can't give that kid room. Congrats to Mayfield, well coached, classy football team.

Whatever "IT" is, Mayfield has "IT". Another spectacular job by one of the top coaching staffs in Kentucky for those halftime adjustments . This was still a game until the onside kick went out of bounds, gotta give your guys at least a chance to recover that ball, instead it spun like a top and went straight out of bounds. The Memorial mystique for opposing teams continues...

Wow! Thats pretty unreal!

Ok folks, here's my personal post game report...

1)Desales has a stingy defense, definitely not the best in 2a (maybe 3rd) but still a very good defense.

2)Desales has tremendous size on the line, but they were worn out midway through the 3rd quarter..need to improve conditioning!

3)Desales was terrible on offense..

4)Mayfield defense played lights out in the second half..

5) hats off to desales and their fans..they were a class act..folks, ya'll have a hell of a team, but some things just have to come to an end..congratulations and hopefully we'll see ya'll next year..

6)Mayfield proved they are the best defense in 2a and can hang with anyone..

Congrats to the Mayfield Cardinals! Most teams fold after getting punched in the mouth and down 13-0. I heard Coach Morris on the radio coming home tonight and he said Mayfield has an internal motto of "no matter what happens Play the next play" and thats what they did to secure a hard fought victory against a very good Colt Squad. Only thing I dont like is BG doesnt play same day as Mayfield. But I'll be pulling for you guys against the Breds! Go Cardinals!

The kick reminded me of Kevin Costner in Tin Cup when he was warming up for the US Open and shanked it down the line. "who hit that?" Wet ball, bad kick.

Great game tonight by both teams. Desales has a great football team and I'm glad we got to play them tonight. We were outsized by jus about every position. I love the fight and heart our kids have. They jus do not give up and they find a way to win and good football teams do that. Very very proud of our boys even though it was early they got down by 13 points and it never really seem to bother them. I think there is no question now who has the best defense in 2A. I can't say enough about our defense. With that said Desales defense was only giving up an average of 87.5 yds per game against the rush coming into tonights game and Bright alone put up 145 yds on them. Also the most points scored against their defense was 18 and we put up 24.

 

Like many have mentioned our coaching staff is top notch and once again the adjustments they made in tonights game prove that. Go Big Red!!!

That game was worth every penny. Mayfield defense, after the second half, was nothing short of great. I honestly think OC had a better offense but that's just my opinion. I really like DS class. Great fans. They never missed a beat rooting their Colts on. Great season and nothing but respect. I loved the Johnson kid also. I thought he lived up to expectations. I think he has a better arm then what we saw tonight. He Probably would have had a better game if it wasn't raining. Go Cards

This Desales team had great talent and depth at every position.. I really believe when they got up early and was having success moving the ball, they thought it was over. I don't think they ever thought for a minute, they could lose the game.. Once Mayfield got their footing back in the 2nd quarter and started getting stops and then moving the ball offensively, the Cards never waivered or doubted themselves. That long 2nd quarter drive and score gave them the push and confidence they needed. Once the 2nd half started, Mayfield took possession of the ball and didn't give Desales a lot of time to do anything. By the time the Colts got the ball and put together a decent drive, they had already given up 17 2nd half points and were fighting the clock moreso than the opposition. I still think the whole time they were getting further and further down, they still thought it was just a matter of time before they imposed their will and took control of the game. To the Cardinals credit, they weren't going to allow that, not on this night.. By the time the 4th qtr got going, the Cards were the ones with extra kick in their step and weren't just holding on, but, rather imposing their will and making a statement for the rest of 2a to hear loud and clear. We're back and we're not going to take a back seat to anyone.
