Ok at the end of the Mic'ed up with Joe Morris, it shows game time is 7pm on Dec 6th??? Is that an error for the time?? I thought the game was at 1pm on the 6th

I didn't notice the time WPSD reported, but, as far as I know, it's 1:00 sunday with the 3a game at 4:00 and 4a game at 7:00.. If weather is decent, I may stay for all 3, but, at the very least for the 2a and 3a games..

I watched the entire broadcast. Yes it wasn't ideal, but the audio was perfect and the video was tolerable. Bad weather can do that. Thanks for your work.

 

Maybe Coltsby90 was interfering... lol Great game... I liked your color commentator... I think he felt the refs were calling in our favor... I felt the exact opposite... So I guess it goes both ways, because I am bias too!! lol

A true statistical distribution would have 40 in 3a and 39 in both 2a and 4a. Whether based on districting or some other motivation, fact remains you are creating an artificial splice that unnaturally crops DS into 2a. If pure math had been applied, the largest team in 2a would be the smallest team in 3a. I'm thankful that didn't happen. I would hate for Mayfield to win a title only to have the haters say, "that's great, but you didn't beat the defending champs." Fortunately, the classes fell the way they did allowing MF to prove their point on the field.

 

I am WAYYYY late to this thread, but I couldn't make myself read it the past couple of weeks (not that you Mayfield people understand why!) :-) Anyway, DeSales was in fact VERY close to being moved to 3-A last time. The school is growing because a lot of kids are coming there now because they have a chance to play for championships versus watching their teammates play for championships at Trinity. Next time around we will definitely be 3-A.

How can a school only have 300 boys and 100 of them play football? That's an unheard of number.. Even the most tradition rich programs aren't close to that %.. Trinity has 1300 boys and 200 play football, Highlands has 400 boys and 80 play football, Mayfield has 200 boys and 50 play.. Male has 100 but they also have 700 boys.. Just curious, is there a clause in your qualifications that state you must be a great athlete or play football to attend..

 

The CSAA (Louisville's Catholic grade school football league) has been strong for decades. The Friday Night Lights are the dreams of all those boys. The percentage of players to enrollment isn't as high at X or Trinity, but they each have about 100 come out for Freshman football every year. However, most of them don't play much at all. Looking at the prospects of playing even less on a JV team runs a lot of them off. By junior year, many have given it up. At DeSales, there is a much better chance that you will be a CONTRIBUTOR during your Junior and/or Senior year, so the number that quit after the first two years is considerably less. Hence, 30-35% of the boys play and stick it out. And to answer someone's comment from earlier, the Freshmen dress for the playoffs so yes, they are included in that 90-ish number.
