I appreciated the effort

I really felt like desales beat themselves with the flags and missed tackles. Props to Mayfield coaches on the 2nd half adjustments. That was a great football game

 

I realize that you think that Desales could have done some things better, but make no mistake about it...Mayfield beat Desales tonite! We put up 24 points on "the best defense in 2A"...and settled down and stopped the Colts offense.

I was in the press box, and after the game i overheard someone say that Desales only had 65 yards in the second half...that is unofficial...the Cardinals decided to play championship football in the second half.

As I said in the update thread...If you get Mayfield down you better put them away. Over the last several years I have not seen one team that makes better in game adjustments game after game than does Mayfield. I can't count how many big games a team comes out and jumps on them and gets all excited, then slowly and methodically they come back and send that team home with an L.

 

If not for some of the Mayfield posters, I would probably root for them every game...I like the way they go about playing football.

Congrats to colts, and your season, and the two previous seasons. It was a good game, some mistakes on both sides, but hey, these are high school kids. Both teams showed class and heart.

 

We received a nice welcome back to 2A football and in turn gave a welcome to Mayfield football.

 

I am proud of our kids and coaching staff. Especially our line. I couldn't see'em a lot of the time, but they opened a lot of holes. Just a superb effort and poise.

 

It looked to me like some of those big ole boys got to huffin and puffin in the second half and we took advantage. GO BIG RED

GREAT football game. Much respect for Desales, they were what I thought they would be: disciplined, well coached, and BIG! Mayfield showed once again that heart alone can win you football games. The Colts D pursued and closed on the ball very very well and the QB is a Monster! The adjustments Coach Joe and company made after getting dominated in the 1st quarter cannot be understated. In fact, I would say Heart and Coaching is what won this ballgame for us tonight. Simply a fantastic ballgame and I suspect we will be seeing Desales on a regular basis going forward.

As I have said for the last umpteen years on this same night...It s great to be a Mayfield Cardinal!

 

Ole War Memorial, as Snake said, is where teams dreams come to die! No matter the class the Cards just keep on keeping on!

 

Watched DeSales and didn't think the would be as strong as they were but man they brought it. Great team and great fans, safe travels home and hope to see you next year. #5 for DeSales was a beast and I had the pleasure of getting to talk with his dad, class act. In fact, gotta hand it to all of all the DS players and fans as I didn't see anybody that was anything but first class.

Typically, when someone is video recording a game, they do so either above the press box or in the upper level around midfield, not way over in the scoreboard end zone section.. That's the 1st time I've ever seen one from that angle.. Just curious why you didn't try and get more toward the middle of the field..

There is a difference between missing tackles and having a talented player make you miss.

We like to think Mr. Bright is quick, hard to tackle, and has moves that would make Barry Sanders jealous. He is only a junior, you might get another shot at him next year.

Colts ought to focus schemes on someone other than CAL. Look forward to hosting the Cardinals next year!!!

MF kids are tough as nails! They could have easily packed it in when they got down 13, but they didn't. Instead, they did do what MF teams do... kept fighting, scratching, & clawing until they found a way to win. Heart > size!!!

What an effort by both teams tonight! I cant say enough about the poise of this group of Cardinals. They have the refuse to lose mentality. Desales was a very good team, but the gimme pick 6 makes this score look a little better than it could have been. Our guys overcame 3 int's and countless silly penalties, and still put up 24 pts on that heralded defense. Whoever thought we couldn't put up 30 on a dry field might want to rethink that.

Congrats to the Colts on a great season, and the run they have had the last few years. You guys have a great thing going with that program, and I look forward to seeing this game more in the future!
