I feel like the Majority of schools choose to have their sideline on the opposite side of the main bleachers. So I think you are wrong on this topic.

 

I've been to a whole bunch of HS facilities in KY and other states and if SK puts their bench in front of the smaller stands with the visitor's fans they are the only school that I have ever seen do that.

The thing about PRP they didn't give up 70 like the eventual runner-up did. Currently no division one signees. So props to PRP'S coaches .

I just looked at the Google Maps shot of the SK stadium. It appears there are bleachers on both sides, one side considerably smaller then the other. I would assume that the smaller side is where the visiting fans are "supposed" to sit. If so wouldn't the visiting bench also be on that side of the field? I've never been to a high school stadium where the home team didn't play in front of their own fans if there are stands on both sides of the field.

 

With the way SK sets up are the SK cheerleaders on the same side of the field as the visiting team?

 

I don't condone players jawing at fans but if it happens at SK because the put the visitors bench in front of the home stands then I can certainly see how it happens.

 

To be honest SK simply needs more bleachers. For the over whelming majority of SK's games the home teams bleachers(the much larger one) is at capacity. In a situation like tonight both sides were full and you had people standing at the fence all around the field. I made it to 3 games at SK this year and they were all like that.

 

It's a good problem to have but SK's football program has simply out grown the alotted seating space they currently have.

 

As for the sidelines and which teams on which side. That change was made when the field house was built which is also SK's locker room. I'm not sure why it was made exactly other than them not wanting the teams to cross paths when coming out of the tunnels and crossing at midfield? I dunno.

Regardless of where the home team chooses to have their bench we all need to remember that this is high school football. Coaches are supposed to be leaders and good examples. Lafayette is the lowest class group of players and coaches I have ever seen. They even top the group from the top of the hill in Newport surprisingly. That said, Lafayette couldn't be stopped tonight and unfortunately came out with the win. They were big and fast and just outplayed the Pioneers. No excuses. Also with that being said I hope Male puts up a running clock in the first half and shuts Lafayette up real fast.

That's the only thing I can really think of. I agree it's an easy fix. Perhaps someone in the know can give more of an explanation. SK has a nice campus and facilities but they need to at least double the visiting section. Adding more to the home teams side would probably draw in more money at the gate.

Im cheering for Male now with the way LHS players ran to the fence and acted to the SK fans the names they were calling the SK cheerleaders at the end. No class at all. look forward to seeing a running clock. and no I don't have a kid at sk nor did I attend sk

Just more proof that the players and coaches are low class. Shame.

Just looking at the box score.... it looks like one team made adjustments at the half and one team did not.

Simple solution would be for SK to take the other side of the field by their home fans, student section and cheerleaders. Put the visiting team with their backs to the visiting fans. That's how most schools do it, I think. When the SK players are so close to the visiting fans it just seems like some taunting happens when the players score and are hyped up. I'm not pointing fingers or trying to start anything, but it just seems that way. Hey the best way to stop it is to keep them from scoring. But by having the teams switch sidelines would keep anything from happening with visiting players and SK cheerleaders and SK fans. Congrats on a great season to SK. Clearly #1 in NKY.

Even the couple of plays that were shown from this game on the news tonight showed punk moves from Lafayette players....in your face taunting and trash talking. I hope they get drilled in the final.
