Funny I read this entire thread and outside of maybe 5 or 6 posts the entire thing centered on the fans, the stands and UK#1 fan. Does no one even want to talk about the game?? Why was SK not able to score after the middle of the 2nd quarter? Bad play calling, bad execution, turnovers, just facing a better team?? I thought there were a bunch of intelligent football fans on BGP. Some of us were not at the game, guess I'll have to go to the news online.

Two of the biggest reasons were Landon Young and Jedrick Wills. During the regular season, they sometimes played red-zone defense, but I don't think they took a play off after the first quarter. They were able to contain the sides of the line and SK just didn't have an answer for them. SK had a bit of success against Lafayette's secondary in the first quarter, but that seemed to stop once their O-line began to break down.

 

There also seemed to be a real attitude shift once Lafayette caught up to, and then passed, SK. SK seemed a bit deflated.

I believe the coaches let it get out of hand. The coaches and players where standing where the cheerleaders stand. The cheerleaders couldn't even cheer.

 

They may have & I definitely don't condone coaches or players talking to fans or cheerleaders, but that's an SK issue for putting the visiting team on that side.

To be honest SK simply needs more bleachers. For the over whelming majority of SK's games the home teams bleachers(the much larger one) is at capacity. In a situation like tonight both sides were full and you had people standing at the fence all around the field. I made it to 3 games at SK this year and they were all like that.

 

It's a good problem to have but SK's football program has simply out grown the alotted seating space they currently have.

 

As for the sidelines and which teams on which side. That change was made when the field house was built which is also SK's locker room. I'm not sure why it was made exactly other than them not wanting the teams to cross paths when coming out of the tunnels and crossing at midfield? I dunno.

Was at the SK football game, and after Lafayette went up for good several of their players turned toward SK's stands as people were leaving and started Flippin the bird.....since I was just walking by I'm not sure if the fans said anything prior but, it reminded me of the beat down Trinity put on them and a conversation I had where they were walking off talking smack......As for the game once Lafayette started making a comeback on SK it seemed like the wind just went out of them......Male wins by running clock

I've been to almost every game the past three seasons @sk and ive never once seen an issue between sk fans and the players or coaches!

Sounds like there needs to be some self control and more adults holding people responsible.

 

When I say self control that goes for the fans and players on both teams. The unnecessary jawing back and forth needs to be policed by the coaches, refs, and the other fans that are present at the game. If your friend is yelling at the kids on the field it's your job to calm him down and don't engage in that mess. If you are a coach and you see that stuff, put his butt on the bench and tell him that his conduct is not going to be tolerated. If you are a referee and you see it warn the coaches and players the first time, and if it continues flag them again and again.

 

It is impossible to know who deserves the blame because both sides played a role, but when it gets out of control I would like both coaching staffs to step up and shut that mess down. And if the crowd is at fault have security escort them out of the stadium if they have to. This was one of the best matchups last night and the take away has become trash talk & lack of discipline.

Other then an attempt at intimidation can anyone give a legitimate reason that Dodgem decided to go against state wide norm and put the visiting team in front of the home fans?

The fans in the stands yelled at the head coach to get his players.
