My question to Highland fans is what time should I get there to get a decent seat and where is the best place to park so I can hit the road quick? Much appreciated!!!

 

I'm not picking a winner to this one. I think Pulaski is the Champ, so they are the favorite, but the games in Ft Thomas and H is playing CLEARLY better now, so who knows!

 

Highlands is landlocked as far as premium parking spots and most of them are off-street parking. I would get there at least an hour before kickoff to secure a spot close to the school. If PC travels well, I would get there sooner than that.

You can walk in at kickoff and get a good seat.

 

Parking is a whole different situation. If you get there an hour before kickoff you can park on the street on the North end of the stadium and upon leaving you can head straight to the expressway on Memorial Pkwy. Five minutes from car to I-471 tops.

Well I was looking forward to watching this game but I drew the short straw at work this year and have to work and it has been moved to 3pm. I think this game can go either way . I think being at home will help the Birds which is why I picked them but I think they are still the underdog and it will be an upset if they win.

I didn't think it would be a 4+ hour trip.

 

Ok, so let's call it 3+ hours at bus speeds. Still no picnic riding on a crowded bus with a belly full of gravy, around all those twists and turns, up and down hills, speeding up, slowing down due to traffic, black Friday crowds clogging up the highways, the endless chatter not allowing you to get some much needed rest after a big dinner and maybe breakfast, and the stench of "that guy" who inevitably drops a deuce in the bus lavatory as soon as you leave the home parking lot....Uh, I'm suddenly not feeling very good. :depressed:

So, I asked a few pages back: How many players from each team play on both sides of the football. Highlands typically has an advantage in that regard. Is it the same this year? Does Pulaski play a bunch of players both ways? Will some Highlands and Pulaski fans fill us in?

 

Pulaski runs two platoons. George Gregory is the only player that plays a significant number of snaps on both sides. A couple of other players may play 5 or so snaps on the opposite side of the ball during a game.

That's less than I thought. I thought Mason Helton played a lot on both sides of the ball along with a couple of others.

It varies by game and other factors. I would love to see Mason play more TE and get some targets. That kid is a football player. Wish he would get the Kash Daniel treatment and someone would recruit him hard.

No, the question is has Highlands improved enough. Both teams playing like they did against Scott Co would have Pulaski winning very easily...Highlands needs to have improved MUCH MORE than Pulaski to close the gap.

 

Highlands is playing different personnel than they did in the Scott Cty game. I know Hergot and Cain didn't dress for that game. Seems like there were other kids out as well. I think the third string QB played as well after the backup -- who started -- was injured. There are different kids on the O Line and in the D backfield than in the Scott County game. It wouldn't be representative of the team today.

Ehhhh, let's just say there is no favorite. Two teams playing to go to state.

I'm rooting for the Birds just to prevent the Maroons from playing the Purples in the finals? Nobody wants to see that .............folks I don't make this stuff up!

Mapquest shows that it is 2 hrs 38 min from Pulaski Co High to Highlands High. Of course that is in a car, not school bus without a lavatory or motor coach. That time is without any bathroom, lunch break or gas breaks.

 

If PC is using school buses without a lavatory, then probably one break would be needed. Thus, 3+ hours is conservative.

 

IMHO, to be ready for the game 3 pm, the team needs to leave no later than 10 am so that they can also schedule in a pregame meal.

The last three years they haven't been to Ft. Thomas. A little different than most play off atmospheres. One thing about the people of the fort. They will treat you and your team with the utmost respect. You can also walk through the city without any problems after parking on one of the side streets. Very classy city with classy players and coaches. Win or lose the Birds do it with class.

 

Will both gates be open for admission because of the construction? Last time I was there you could only enter through the north end.

 

I hope PC has a safe trip to and from the game!
