MVP for Caldwell, had the won, might have been the clock keeper. Had a real slow finger on the stop button on that last drive. Secondary contribution by the always annoying announcer who does quasi play by play while play is under way. But two well coached teams with good athletes who have shots at KHSAA titles again.

I think overall yards were fairly close in the stats.

Bright ran for 106... Riley 128... Burns for 31.

Officials were generally OK in the 1St half, my issues came in the 2ND when there was a pow wow seemingly after every other play, penalty or not. You'd think a crew with some NFL experience on it would have a better night. Chain gang and the time keeper weren't on top of their game either though. Bad night for a lot of folks in Princeton.

 

Just happy this was not a playoff game and the season continues for both teams, despite anything that happened last night. There is a bright side for both of us.

I think we should let this go fellas. It was a great high school football game played by 2 great teams, that has no effect on the outcome of the season. If this was a district game that determined home field in the playoffs, this would be a huge deal. I think all Mayfield fans have lots of respect for the Caldwell program, and always will. Good or bad, refs are part of the game every week. I don't like the saying "it is what it is" but............." It is what it is folks".

Changing the subject hopefully, has anyone heard heard of any injuries from the game? I haven't and I hope there is none.

I think both teams fans will root the other on in the playoffs, they just don't care for each other during their games with each other..

I can rap this one up. I watched the game again on Utube and originally I thought the officiating was bad and after watching again I conclude-- the officiating was VERY bad.

 

I know there are good calls and bad calls in every game but the bad calls Caldwell got were in very critical parts of the game where they could have blown open the game or iced the game.

But my final conclusion is the officials were NOT totally responsibly for the Caldwell loss.

 

It was a combination of very good play calling down the stretch by the Mayfield coach and players and VERY poor clock management by the Caldwell coaches on their last drive. Last but not least all the free calls Mayfield got to help them down field and the refs not starting the clock after their final big play as they waited for the Mayfield team to get set to spike the ball. The time should have started and the time would have expired before they got the play off to spike the ball.

 

Good luck to both teams in the play-offs as I think they both can make deep runs if the stay healthy.
