Caldwell Co had 11 penalties for 115 yards

Both should win out in the playoffs and get to bg

Both would have brutal 4th round matchups. BUT, both would be in the promised land of WK.

This was a great tune up for the playoffs. Get over it and get ready for next eeek.

First off, I got to meet several of the Mayfield fans Friday before the game. I was able to sit a talk some football with some really great guys. I now realize that most of them didn't realize how good Caldwell is, until later in the night. The Tigers are for real, just as the Cardinals are. Both will make a lot of noise in their respective playoffs, and don't be surprised to see both teams in BG in early December.

It was a very good game, maybe the best in the state this season. It seemed Caldwell controlled most of the game and COULD have blown the game open at times. The key here being COULD HAVE, they didn't and that speaks volumes for Mayfield. The Cardinals controlled the game late, and we're not going quietly into the night.

The sad thing was that there were three teams on the field Friday night in Princeton. Regardless of your opinion of how the calls went, the fact that the presence of the "striped team" was very evident. That is the LAST thing anyone wants in games that carry this type of hype, quality, and implications going forward. The third team should NEVER be in the midst of a game. That wasn't the case here, and I believe that seeing all the comments here that both squads that were supposed to be there agree the refs played a significant role in this contest. Maybe not in the outcome, but definitely were not silent in the progression of the game. This game could have went either way as two contenders slugged it out all night long, it is a shame it had to end in that respect.

Both teams can take so much away from this game and take it into the playoffs with them. Mayfield, the perennial contenders they are, can realize they are not unbeatable and EVERY night they better bring their " A " game. The Tigers can take away that they can compete with anybody, and bigger than that they can NEVER take their foot off the gas. 48 minutes of hard nosed football is what it will take to succeed.

I look forward to following both these teams through their journey in the playoffs, and hope to see both in BG. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH.

I saw them as a non factor and I was just a neutral observer. You have calls in every game that have to be called, I thought they let them play and we're a non issue

How does a team get all the way to the 2 yard line in 47 seconds???????

 

Can someone give the sequence of plays following the Caldwell Co. FG........starting with the kickoff and how far it was returned.

Cards win but I am totally ticked. Worst ref game I cN recall. EVER! All against us

 

I am one of the original members of BGP and for the senior members of this site I think most would agree that I have a reputation of telling it like it is. That said, the last time I complained of refs was 2 years ago when MF lost to Caldwell until last night. Prior to that I can not recall having done so and would challenge anyone to review my post to find otherwise. Last night I left with a W but felt that the refs had made it really difficult stating that it was the most lopsided calling of a game I could ever recall. I got the chance to rewatch the game this afternoon and I was wrong sort of. There were calls against Caldwell as well, in particual the Cain TD catch. The call was wrong, Caldwell's 79 moved early and it is clear as day but the refs called it as ineligible receiver down field. I thought on the first td, a int by Cain that turned into a pic 6, that Cain pushed off but on review it is inconclusive. in the 4th when Caldwell had a 4th down that saved the drive with a int and later led to a FG with 47 seconds left in the game was not a interference at all. Finally, in the 49 second drive the clock ran down to 0 when it should have had 2 seconds left, the refs eventually put 2 seconds back on and Mf won on a FG and in this case the ref was correct

I don't agree about 3 teams there. If Mayfield had lost, it had never entered my mind about the ref's.

If most will watched the game on tape, I think they might believe it was generally a well officiated game, not perfect but overall not as bad as you CC people think.

Caldwell kicks out of bounds on first kick

Second kick squibs all the way inside the 5 where it is then returned around the 15-20 yd line

Pass over the middle for around 20 yds

Screen pass is incomplete, but receiver was hit early so pass interference called (yes, it was a good call) 15 yd penalty enforced

Pass over the middle is caught around the Caldwell 40 maybe and long run made after the catch all the way to the 8 yd line

2 sec on the clock, the ball is set and snapped and spiked immediately

Field goal is kicked as time expires

Looks like you are on your own on this one. It isn't just Caldwell fans, there are fans from both sides that see it the same way. It didn't just take place in the last minute, it was the whole game. I have watched the tape, and most of the calls were left out, even live. So many Phantom calls that went against both teams are absolutely reverent. KHSAA should look into this crew. They surely are not capable of calling big games.
