I will say what I didn't like is this. I don't like PA announcers that try to be play by play announcers at the game. CC had one of the worst.

One thing is for sure with Mayfield

If Mayfield has a chance to win at the end.... they are going to most likely do it. Testament to a great coaching staff.

Ball is spiked and I turned my head to the clock and it is still running. Of course you would expect that from the home press box... Let it run out and see if the ref calls him out on it. And he did!. Didn't matter if it is .1' date=' 1, or 2. There was no doubt there was time left in that game.[/quote']You are correct. There was 2.8 secs left then after the spike 2.0. And of course the home field clock keeper ran the clock out. The head referee keeps up with the time and he got it right. I absolutely for the life of me cannot stand sore losers. Yes there were questionable calls on both sides jus like when Caldwell had it 4th and 10 and the game was on the line and had to convert and there was a defensive pass interference call on Mayfield. So Caldwell eventually gets into FG range and nails it with under a minute to go for what some thought was the game winner. If that would have been the winner I WOULD NOT HAVE BLAMED the ref bc I thought he got the pass interference call wrong. Maybe the Caldwell defense should not have allowed Mayfield to go roughly 70 something yards with 30 something secs left. Maybe jus maybe that's what cost them the game. Not the referees.

He wasn't the only one with a little yellow hanky in his back pocket. There were several thrown by the others.

I thought it was a great effort by the guys in the Cardinals jerseys and the guys in the Tigers jerseys.

 

The guys in the striped jerseys need to drop some of their attitude and work at becoming better officials. They left a lot to be desired tonight.

Congrats to The Cardinals on a great hard fought win! We did not give up and found a way to win. Good football teams do that. Thought Caldwell played a heck of a ball game. Hats off to them. Expect them to make a deep playoff run.

Mayfield's defense was the difference in this game. 21 of CCs points came on 3 plays: pick 6, punt return and one long breakaway running play. Mayfield's defense controlled things otherwise. MFs O spit and sputtered, but did enough to be in a position to win at the end. Bottom line, MF was the better team and made plays when they mattered the most. This was about a gritty team finding the heart to grind out a tough win. CC fans coming on here with silly conspiracy theories about MF alums being planted as referees should be ashamed at their attempts to disparage what MF accomplished in this game.

The assigning secretary PUT THE REFS in this game because he felt like they were one of the best crews in this region and they are! Coach Barnes knew where they were from and signed off allowing this crew because he knew they were good, I know these guys well and THEY WOULD NOT DELIBERATELY make a bad call for mayfield or ANY team. I gurantee you coach Barnes was happy about these guys getting the game, I'm sure he's upset this AM for losing, but Caldwell had some calls that were borderline go his way as well. I'm suprised at some of this poor attitude of SOME of Caldwell fans. You have a great team, so do we, the refs didn't loose this game for Caldwell, both teams deserved to win, a shame one team had to lose.

If you read my post thoroughly I never said anything close to what you just mentioned. It's all about perception. Had Mayfield won, I wonder if you would have the same response. If the stripes were from Caldwell and Mayfield lost a close game, would you have the same response. It's all about perception. I never said anything negative about the crew; I'm sure they do a good job. If you officiate ANY sport I think this would be a HUGE conflict of interest if you graduated and played the sport there. Just sayin'

And YOUR perception is that an official who lives in mayfield would not be bias, I KNOW this crew, they would go out of their way to not make calls that would cause them to be labeled HOMERS! I go back to my comment, coach Barnes could have stopped them from calling this game if he had wanted to. If mayfield had lost, I would not blame the officials for the calls I PERCIEVED to go against us, I would have blamed the 3 or 4 interceptions we SHOULD have made but but dropped!

Always play like you need 11 and they only need 9.

 

Or - as Miami coach Jimmy Johnson said when playing Notre Dame - do not leave it in the refs hands.

I haven't seen the stats yet for this game, but I bet your statement about dominating the game can be proved wrong. As mentioned earlier they're points basically came off 3 plays. 2 of them the offense wasn't even on the field. Even if you want to say "they had a TD called back" that's 4 plays. Caldwell offense did no dominating at all. I'm not saying Mayfield did at all, to me the game was very even.

 

I completely agree about Dee Cain. He's just stands out among others.
