I didn't think you directed toward me but it did seem the a broad brush of those who find the President to be poor at his job and opposed to him.

I fall in that camp , my point is a majority , a large majority oppose based on policy alone. I would guess over 90-95% who oppose Obama would oppose any democrat president.

No. People here on BGP, including myself, are saying that there are people who hate Obama because of his skin color. I think there are very few left leaning BGPers who think that people here on BGP hate Obama because of his skin color. I do think there is a large majority of us from both sides who have seen or heard Obama be hated on simply because of his skin color. That's the discussion I see.

I never disagreed with that. I just don't think it's a large number.

Hmmmm, that's an interesting perspective. I feel the opposite that his race has gotten him a pass but I am black so we have different perspectives. That is interesting though.

I should have said a pass on some things, just to clarify a little.

I wished Colin Powell would have run. I don't think he's a liberal or a conservative. I know he loves his country and he knows the USA's role in the world. Smart and honorable. I'm sick of career politicians. Sadly he hates Washington as much as most of us. His wife wouldn't let him anyway..( she's the boss, we all know how that works.)

I never disagreed with that. I just don't think it's a large number.

Take a drive South.

There is a large segment of the country that was not ready for a black President, and quite frankly, probably never will be. That being said, many are also not ready for a woman or a Mormon President either.

President Obama will get criticized in KY for destroying the coal industry, although the bigwigs at the coal companies brought most of it upon themselves. Overall, my guess is that he did as well as anyone else would have over the last 7 years.

It's a LARGE number.

Then you should have heard some of the stuff where I work thrown around about Bush. "Obama hating" is as tame as a 3 week old puppy compared to what was said about Bush with the majority of my co-workers, the majority who talk politics anyway.

Any of it gladly volunteering to end the life of the dirty n-word President before he steals their arsenal? That's what I hear. Every week. Week in, week out.

Actually I hear very very little "bad" espoused about the President. I am an anomaly among the people I work with...meaning I lean a different way. I don't talk a lot of politics around the workplace...my views would/are not considered "good", or correct, might not be good for my employment.

To be clear, this is card-table talk. Upstanding members of the community, not "low-lifes".

Maybe I just run in the wrong crowd (or maybe that should be the right/good crowd) but I don't hear ultra derogatory stuff about the President outside of a lot of distaste concerning his politics.

Have I heard the rare really bad thing said? Yes. Did I hear as bad about Bush, much much much more frequently? Yes. Almost daily, multiple times. That's my world, yours may be different.

No doubt! I run mostly with retired teachers and police officers.

Not sure what you are saying here pops. Are you saying a lot of retired teachers and cops say really bad things about the president? I don't think that's what you mean, but in the context of our conversation it definitely can be construed that way.

I'm saying that most of the guys I run with (10 or 12 guys) are retired teachers, ex-policemen, and a couple of factory workers. All in their late 60s to early 70s.

What they constantly spew about the President is unadulterated evil. They get red in the face, they quiver and shake. Almost to a man, they LOVE the Donald.

And they carry.
