What Obama's 8 years in office have taught me

Featured Replies

Seriously do some of you have amensia on the hate directed toward Bush?

It doesn't excuse bad behavior towards Obama , but to act like it's new is just silly and against all facts.

No we don't. Bush got hate his way that's for sure. I'm just not buying the crap people are trying to sell that that it's on par with Obamas. Obama was the first president in history to show his birth certificate. There's a reason for that. I'm not gonna sit here and say people didn't say sanything racist against Bush, but I never got the feeling that the hatred he recieved was outside his policies. With Obama, it's the he was born in Kenya, Muslim blah blah. He's dividing our country on race. Why? Because a black president is showing empathy towards the black community? The xenophobic and racist remarks I have seen against Obama goes unmatched. He gets the hate from different angles. Something I can't say about Bush.

Yeah because a black dude calling Bush white trash is the same as calling Obama the n word. Have you ever seen or heard a black person call Bush white trash or any derogatory name? Saltine synonym maybe? I can't say I have. Not saying it hasn't happened but none come to mind. Suppose I had seen 50 blacks call him the Saltine synonym I've still seen and heard Obama called the n word in 2015 way way more times that Bush has ever been racially insulted. And yes, for us black folks it stings a whole hell of a lot to see and hear a black president being called the n word. It would bother me the same to hear anyone call Dr. Carson the n word even though I think he is an idiot. And I'm sure there are plenty of people who "won't vote for that word either. "

I'm amazed that 7 years later that people even try to say the heat Bush received for being an idiot is the same hate Obama receives for being black, a Muslim, incompetent, a socialist, a Kenyan, a liar, arrogant, clueless, a moron, The Great Divider.......Bush was labeled an idiot and incompetent. NOBODY attacked him for being white. How is this a legitimate conversation? "Bush was hated on as much as Obama". That was debatable 5 years ago. Now it's an asinine statement.

Bush was criticized as much as Obama but Obama is by far the most hated president I have ever seen in my life. Partly because of his politics and partly because of his skin color. No other president can say they have had that level of hate.

@BirdBrain Obama is biracial but he isn't liked so he becomes black. If he was liked he'd be biracial. This is a good example of what we were talking about last week. And yes, if Chappelle Show had Racial Draft Part 2 the blacks would draft Obama just like they drafted Tiger Woods. :lol2:

^ Never seen this level of vitriol for a president - sitting or otherwise - since I was old enough to remember (born in DDE, can remember JFK). Not even remotely close.

And I'm not even considering social media. This is live conversation.

Funny how I've heard horrible things from people I know (not what I'd consider friends) say they like to prematurely end Bush's term along with a level of vitriol I'd never seen before for a sitting president. Only difference I see is between Bush and Obama is the names they're called.

Nope. W got heat. Obama gets straight hate,

Big difference.

I think you're remembering things you want to remember them, not how they were.
The majority of those are from white people. The only black person I saw said he was the worst president ever. Wow, how hateful. Bush wasn't hit by racist, xenophobic idiots from all angles like Obama.

Yeah, right. No black person ever said anything racist toward Bush...ever...

He doesn't label himself bi-racial, he labels himself black.

As he should. IMO there is no biracial but I'll respect the wishes of those who wish to identify themselves as biracial or mixed. It's weird that biracial/mixed people will say that they are biracial/mixed or black but they never refer to themselves or no one ever refers to them as white. To this day I have never heard that before.

Edit: #blacklivesmatter activist Shaun King was referred to as white by Breitbart. I stand corrected.

I'm sure they have. There are tons of racist blacks. Have you heard any blacks say racist stuff about Bush? I haven't and I'm black. They can say it around me. You ever heard any white people say anything racist about Obama? I have. And if you haven't let me know. I'll screenshot some stuff for you and send it to you in PMs.

People attack with what they believe is the biggest insult. Bush obviously was not attacked with racial insults but the level of hate and anger was every bit as bad as what Obama gets.

I have heard racist comments toward Bush and Obama. I will agree I've heard more toward Obama.

On the other side of the coin, Obama's race has gotten him a pass on things I think Bush would have been hammered for. So I don't think race always works against him as some claim.

Here's a key difference between the "hatred" of Bush and Obama. You can find all sorts of nasty things said about either of them by fringe players, but the leading candidate for the GOP nomination and about 1/4 of the party doesn't even believe Obama is the legitimate president. And that's just one topic. How many in the mainstream think he's a Muslim and thus a terrorist sympathizer? I don't remember mainstream politicains, candidates, or commentators talking about Bush in those egregious terms.

No, they just called Bush Hitler and a murderer.

I've always heard that you can't relly assess a President's performance until 30-40 years after he leaves office.
