What Obama's 8 years in office have taught me

Not sure what you are saying here pops. Are you saying a lot of retired teachers and cops say really bad things about the president? I don't think that's what you mean, but in the context of our conversation it definitely can be construed that way.

I think it's totally fair to say that the majority of police officers lean conservative politically, and they also tend to be gun enthusiasts. That's two strikes against Obama in that camp right away, without even getting into the way the POTUS has interjected the federal government frequently in local matters when it comes to police brutality/harassment incidents.

Some of them, when in private company, will say unflattering things. Hell, some even post it on Facebook.

Unfaltering sure, but sounds like mcpapa is saying his hangout guys take it a lot further than that.

I'm saying that most of the guys I run with (10 or 12 guys) are retired teachers, ex-policemen, and a couple of factory workers. All in their late 60s to early 70s.

What they constantly spew about the President is unadulterated evil. They get red in the face, they quiver and shake. Almost to a man, they LOVE the Donald.

And they carry.

Ok, I guess you did mean it that way, at least among that small group.

Extraordinarily small sample size, but yes. Never heard this kind of hate as a kid/teenager. All my college buddies were worried about was their next score. Through a 29-year working career; the worst I ever heard was "George Bush is a moron".

This is different on practically a biblical scale.

I was softening my language. Papa and I hear similar things.

That's funny that two of the biggest left wing Liberals on this site seem to hangout with right wing redneck racist all of the time...:lol2:

I don't discriminate based on political beliefs. I'm a man of the people. And I take exception to being painted as a left-wing liberal. My political views are a mixed bag.

They may be mixed, but you never let the Right Side out in public view. :lol2:

Strange but true in my case. None of this particular crowd is a BGPer.

Ahem … The G-Bomb?

So I'm suppose to be surprised senior citizens are racists. I guess we have different views because I'm around people in there 20's to 40's and I've rarely heard anything you mentioned.

I was on a college campus for some some Bush's presidency and let's just say what was said about him was some the worst things I've heard about anyone.

Again it goes back to the age difference.

I don't feel the need to continue a "your guys treat my guy worse than my guys treated your guy" urinating contest over the issue.

I simply believe that PP92's original premise is correct.

That is no doubt a factor. I'm a spring chicken compared to most of these guys and I'm old enough to be 80% of the BGP membership's daddy.

Maybe I need to broaden my circle of friends.

I just think that's the difference between a lot of BGP posters. I'm 32. I grew up with a mixed friend group and today my closest friends are of different races. Posters on here grew up in different era's.

We all see things in a different light and I think some of the older posters to often equate today to their younger years.
