Bluegrasspreps' Class 3A Rankings 9-28-15

Featured Replies

So, what we have here is the fans of the top two teams in the class wanting the other team to be number one? No one wants that money on their back.

I think both fanbases are a little surprised at how good the other team actually is.

I will be the first to admit I didn't expect Boyle to be quite as good as they are right now.

From what I've seen and heard this season, 3A is one of the top classes from top to bottom this season. I have to agree Boyle is #1 based on their resume and Belfry is number 2. Should Belfry beat Cabel this weekend they are #1 in my mind and Boyle number 2. However, as an old friend of mine is fond of saying, "all that matters is who is holding up that trophy at the end of the year!"

I will say Hart is going to surprise some folks. They had Union on the ropes until a pick-6 for the Braves with under 2 minutes to play. Yes, Hart had trouble putting away a struggling LaRue team Friday, but when you run a wide-open offense and can't do what you like to do, you're going ot struggle. The weather played a huge roll in that game this past weekend. I'm looking for some shoot-outs between Districts 1 and 2 come post-season!

Hawk, what do you think about the Hart County vs Etown game this week?

Boyle and Belfry are 1 and 1A IMO.

Boyle has called off the dogs VERY early on nearly all their games...Belfry has shown the ability to dominate too.

It really means nothing right now and I (for 1 of MANY) can't wait for the 3A playoffs. Gunna be special!

1. Belfry

2. Central

3. Boyle County

4. Caldwell County

5. Elizabethtown

6. Lexington Catholic

If Belfry wins they deserve the top spot, regardless of how Boyle performs this week.

If they lose, then it becomes a bit more tricky.

I think it's Etown's game to lose. My sources from Raider nation tell me one of their top players is out for this game, maybe longer with an injury. While that isn't confirmed, he DID NOT play against LaRue. Hart has so few numbers, 1 or 2 injuries kills their chances. Now...with that said, Hart's D is a run stopper for sure, and they proved they can hang with a passing team in Union (argue all you want, but I've seen and heard from multiple people it was a shoot-out in Munfordville with Union passing and Hart doing what they do best). E-town HAS to find a way to run on Hart or rely on their passing game which having watched them play twice in person I have seen little to none of. This could either be an ugly game for the Raiders, or one that opens people's eyes to what I've been telling folks all year: Hart is NOT the Hart of old this season and could pull an upset or two and make a playoff run if they're overlooked.

E-town 35

Hart 24

But if the injury rumor is true, it could be more like

Etown 42

Hart 14

But Boyle's going to have a running clock right after kickoff. That "Open" team is pitiful. :thumb:

But what you said is correct. If Belfry wins this week there should be no doubt that they are right now the #1 team in 3A.

I forgot this was Boyle's open week. Serves me right for not checking. :lol2:

I am honestly so truly excited for Etown's game this week for one reason. It is not because Etown will be tested, because they won't. It is not because Hart will make them uncomfortable, because they won't. Etown will run away with this game from the opening kick off, and yes, even with a 100% healthy Hart Co, it would never be a game. I am starting to lose faith in the football world simply because of the inability to look at these two teams and not see the overwhelming inequality in the places of talent, coaching and performance so far this season. I am excited that the Hart talk will end this week, not because I have anything against Hart, because I don't. I just want a realistic look at this region in 3a for once.

Belfry should be #1 now anyways.

That is a nice sound bite, but you and I both know you don't believe that. :lol2:

Don't fight over it, gents, Caldwell will take the #1 spot. Since it means nothing until December. [emoji1]

It's been raining down here in Georgia for a week..if it keeps up you mind swinging down and protecting my house in case the lake rises with some of those sand bags

:D

I am a BC fan and as much as I will always think they are the best I feel like belfry has not done anything to lose that top spot given the fact they are current champion. I don't even feel that if they get beat this weekend that they should lose that spot. I look at each class as a conference and if using Alabama or any sec team for that matter were to get beat by a non-conference school does that mean they should lose top spot in sec? To me that answer is no but if belfry were to fall to a state school we have more to go by. However they have earned the right to be #1 until someone from Kentucky preferably 3A takes that away from them on the field. A loss Friday may change there overall state ranking but the class in my eye should stay the same until or even if someone in 3A takes them down.
