How many threads that are this far off track are left open for a week after the game?

 

I don't think the majority of the discussion is that far off topic. Yes it is not discussion about the game itself, but almost all the discussion is about topics that had an impact in this game being scheduled and what may have led to the game result.

How would (or again, why would they care about a team they don't play) they know about a team if they didn't scout?

 

The same way I know about teams that aren't on my schedule today. I ask questions and keep up with my sport! It's my job. We coach in the season and we manage ahead all the time. It's part of our passion. If it wasn't, they wouldn't be coaching.

 

Let's use this example...In sales, do the good sales teams keep up with what's going on in the industry or just what your local competitors are doing?

Agree to disagree. When a post game thread is talking about tuition students and scouting, it has run its course. A post game thread is to discuss that particular game. All the other topics can be discussed in other threads. JMO.

How would (or again, why would they care about a team they don't play) they know about a team if they didn't scout? Actually to save you some time if ou are going to say by watching JV games etc. There are some varsity coaches that don't even watch JV games because while the JV games are taking place they are in practice with varsity with film and other things. Not every HS Football coach pays a lot attention to JV especially from other schools.

 

GreyFox ... give this one up my man. You are wrong on this one. Coaches do know what other programs have in their pipeline. It is their job. If they don't know, they aren't much of a coach in my opinion.

So when a team doesn't have another team on their schedule or even not even in the same class, they know exactly what other teams have coming up?

 

that's my point. during last season the schedules were not made and the realignment wasn't even done yet. That is my point, why would coaches who don't play certain schools even keep track of what they have coming up?

You keep up on your neighbors. SK, Ryle, Conner, Cooper, Dixie, Cov Cath, Highlands, etc. are all neighbors in that they are all a part of NKY football. Coaches keep up with what other schools are doing. They pay attention when people are talking. They read things that are written.

 

I may hate my neighbor and never want to use his pool, but I for darn sure know if he's building one.

don't fool yourself, these coaches have their starting QB's mapped out all the way down to 6th grade and most know who their competitors guys are as well.

I can tell you as a coach you are aware of what everyone around you has coming down the pipeline. For our junior programs they often play teams that are not in our district, especially once they start the playoffs. Plus, we have a lot of transition down in Georgia so you want to know who your players are and who might transfer to our school.

No invite needed. If your as close to the program as you claim to be you know when and where. However I would leave the soft drinks at home and bring something a bit stronger.

I haven't read this thread but I sense we have reached a good ending point.
