A lot of times some posters just like to keep antagonizing even after a solid answer has been given.

Nor would they care what the names are. First, I said of "potential opponents" way back in an earlier post. But what does knowing the names of the players have to do whether they know if they will be up or down. I have no clue what the name of the kids are on SK's softball team. But I know they are very young right now, very average, but are going to be very good in about 2-3 years. But again. I don't know the name of one of their players. Just one example. Want me to go thru all of NKy for you??

 

You are crazy if you don't think coaches know, but I'm not even sure why we are discussing this. Coaches know. I don't care if you think they do or not. It's not worth discussing. They know. As a coach, I couldn't even imagine not knowing.

I was sitting in the stands watching two 4A teams. A group of guys sat right in front of me with their clipboards and felt tip pens. They were doing the X's and O's, just like all coaches do. I got curious so I looked over their shoulders, only 2 out of 11 had names on them. They may not know every name on the team, but know "by name" who the difference makers are. Obviously, these were scouts and as they were leaving I asked them what team they were scouting and they said "both." To this day I don't know what school they were from. .

No problem, it was a good question and one that we don't know the answer to. However, given past history, at most we'd be looking at one more player maybe. To answer your question, I don't see how one player, even two in a big year, would have made a difference this year.

Actually i haven't seen any answer to the question of how coaches would know Highlands would be down this year.

 

Answer me these couple of questions.

 

Did Highlands win the State Title last year?

 

Has Highlands historically, at least the last 8 years, been a team that has been known for their players waiting their turn and that turn usually came when they were upperclassmen and seniors?

 

So with that the case, how would coaches know what kind of talent Highlands had this year when just like years past no one outside of Highlands knows until that season because most of the starters especially in skill positions like QB are usually first time starters as seniors.

 

So coaches around the area knew how good bench players were for Highlands is what you are claiming along with others when you all didn't even have a clue?

Again. Not sure what you're talking about. I'm saying he wanted to play the best he could. NKy teams or not has nothing to do with aging the most competitive he could. Either they would play them or not. So I'm not following you.

Hoge was an absolute stud, but he also didn't play defense. Highlands also had some other skill players too.

No Hoge no State Championship..Highlands didn't win because of defense..They did have some nice skill players but if Highlands loses one of them they still would of won state. The Birds won because of Hoge.....period!

Trust me he knew, he let the next coach get one title before the ship started to sink. Now whether or not he know the ship was the sister ship to the Titanic is another thing.

 

Weinrich has actually won 2 titles, but who is counting? They may still win another one this year because as Yogi Berra said "it ain't over til its over."

It's not an argument, just a question. If you wonder whether a 1-5 start is due to a lack of tuition students, you must think that tuition students have been a big part of the program. So, the question of who you think was a tuition student is a legitimate one. Fact is, they just haven't been a big part of the program.

Yeah, it's unique to Highlands.

No Hoge no State Championship..Highlands didn't win because of defense..They did have some nice skill players but if Highlands loses one of them they still would of won state. The Birds won because of Hoge.....period!
