Dump the girlfriend there is plenty of women at college!

Dump the girlfriend there is plenty of woman at college!

:laugh::laugh:

Just my .02 but I think the best thing for him to do is just as the Coach if there is a time to meet in private.

Once behind closed doors where it doesn't appear he is trying to cause a confrontation or challenge authority he simply needs to be calm and level with them.

"So I wanted to speak to you in private because I am having a hard time with how you handled this situation with me and I want to hear your reasoning. This is why I was doing this_______________, this is how you reacted ___________________"

Let the Coach explain his reasoning. If I were a coach and a kid was respectful and stood up for himself without challenging me in front of his peers I would respect that.

If the kid doesn't have the cajones to do this and stand up for himself I would argue he needs to continue to have someone teaching him "tough love"

I agree with your post , however according to ZERO, and I'm quoting "Keep in mind, the kid didn't have a beef. All this is about is me trying to understand. Kid wouldn't say crap if he had a mouthful!".....apparently the young man in question really didn't have an issue with it, so I don't see the point with ZERO having an issue with it. I guess it's just something to complain about.

Why are there 6 pages of posts on this thread? This is just a matter of someone who does not understand the commitments of being a college athlete. Day 1 of Football orientation : At College, you can study hard, play football and chase women, but if you try to do all 3 , you will fail at all!

All this to say, there is a soon to be ex college football player being discussed in this thread. There isn't anything wrong with it and it happens every year to thousands of young men. It is tough being away from home, girl friends, family, etc. I suspect the last thing in the world this guy wants to do is tell his coach he has to leave early to go see his girl friend. He'll quit at the end of the season.

Or he figures out his girlfriend's mom is crazy and dumps her.

@zero, is it possible for you to answer the question of how him having to leave late on Monday morning causes him to get back to campus late on Tuesday and how it makes him tired when he does get back?

I too am interested in hearing how being the last one seen makes him tired and late on Tuesday. Will you answer that @zero?

I'll ask again, how does leaving a little late on Monday morning cause him to be tired and late getting back on Tuesday?

Also, again, why can't your daughter go visit him on Mondays if the travel is causing him to be tired and late on Tuesdays? Wouldn't that be a simple easy solution that would solve all the issues and allow everyone to "win"?

Very fun! All the blood pressures up over a fictional story. I love it! I knew it would get all you clowns worked up!

For your sake, I hope it's fictional, because I think we all know why he's too tired on Tuesday mornings.

Or he figures out his girlfriend's mom is crazy and dumps her.

Best scenario yet.

I don't know that answer. Should he? Should everyone on the roster talk to the coaches about their free time? Maybe they should, I was never on a scholarship. I don't know what the rules are. Is free time not free time when you are on scholarship? I don't know that answer.

Well showing up early is his choice on how he is using his free time.

150 kids? I'm not speaking about Ohio State. Where did you read that I said he wanted to get out early? Please don't make assumption.

Kinda showing you making assumptions. D1 cannot have 150 on their roster but NAIA can.

Really? If you are first in line at the deli, you don't expect to be seen first. You are a rare individual. A possible saint!

Not if you are a freshman, rookies to the rear!

Pretty interesting thread. Coaches, like any other program at the school wants kids on campus. Cars can break down, kids are more likely to get in trouble when they are at home around the old gang (squad-giving my age away). My son had a friend doing this a couple years ago and the coaches were furious when they discovered it was happening. Seems innocent enough but the coaches saw it as a kid not buying into the "team" attitude and they saw it as sneaky since he hadn't asked if it was cool to run home on off days. If the kid gets a decent amount of playing time I could see my son's coaches getting furious about this. Seriously. Communication seems lacking on the players and coaches part. Be a man, walk into coaches office and ASK, not assume it's ok, to run home on Monday afternoon. They may well have a pretty good reason that we can't see. I simply see it as a deterrent and maybe slight punishment for not seeking their approval. Coaches don't like surprises. Just saying.
