Final.

Louisville shot themselves in the foot too many times today to get the win.

Timeout was dumb, but irrelevant to the outcome.

Don't turn the ball over and give up two scores and Louisville wins the game.

Two turnovers were the difference, that makes this one tough to swallow.

Defense was very solid most of the day. Auburn had success running the ball because their lines were just better.

I believe the Lamar Jackson era has started at UofL.

Two plays. That's it. Frustrating.

True those turnovers hurt and without them they may win. On the flip side if auburn doesn't turn the ball over then they blow Louisville out most likely. Turnovers happened for both teams, and most of the turnovers weren't really forced but just bad decisions or plays on the offense.

Auburn converted on both of those opportunities, UL did nothing with their two opportunities. Turnovers are what the opposition makes of them.

I would feel the same way, but Auburn fans can point to some costly turnovers as well.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm darned happy with the way it all turned out. We weren't blown out. We did a LOT to overcome not only a really good opponent, but ourselves. I think it say a ton about how far we have come, and showed a ton of continued upward trajectory. We didn't fold. We played till the end.

Those uniforms were awful.

As a UK fan I LOVE seeing the Cards play at a high level. The way they battled back in the game is a true testimate about how much potential this UpfL team has.

Love him or hate him Petrino is one of the best offensive minds in all of football and as long as he is on the sideline UofL will have a chance.

Was really impressed with UofL's QB. Lot more to be excited about there then what we saw as UK fans from Towles.

Good luck to the Cards the rest of the way.

Dumbest waste of a timeout I've seen in a long time.

Not sure the commentators or studio crew did Petrino any favors there. After listening to the discussion, including Petrino's post-game commentary, I think the difference is between "runoff" and "start the clock." Since the penalty was against the team with the lead, and therefore not an attempt to simply stop the clock by getting a penalty, there was no forced runoff of the X seconds.

However, since the prior play was a run, the clock goes back to that state when the ball is set ready for play - i.e., when the play clock starts, the game clock also starts. In the last 2:00 of each half, if the prior play had been a run out of bounds, the play clock would have started, but the game clock would not have.

Since the game clock was going to start, Petrino called final TO to avoid those 25 seconds ticking off before Auburn snapped / called TO. Since he only had 1 TO, it would have been smarter to let the 25 seconds run and then call TO after 3rd down was repeated. As it was, he avoided a 25 second clock run, but gave them a 40 second clock run (play clock starts at 40 seconds after prior play ends.) That would have forced Auburn to punt with about 20 seconds.

Dumber TO was the 2nd one with the clock stopped when they were trying to punch it in. If they had wrong package or didn't get the play in quickly enough, that is on the coaches. Granted, you have to get a good play there, but it was 2nd down, I think.

Overall, Jackson & Bonnafon have to be your top 2 QBs b/c the OL is so brutal. Whether Bolin or Gardner would perform is irrelevant b/c they would never have the time to drop back and pass.

Radcliff did a surprisingly good job getting the corner in the 2nd half. I always saw him as more of a between the tackles runner. He sure runs hard, so if he threatens outside, he will make some yards. Also, when the OL is less mismatched in upcoming games, they'll find a few holes inside from the opponent's DL getting stretched by the read option and playing wider positions.

Defense was opportunistic (and AUB QB was awful). They should get better, but so will everyone else.

Fumble at the 18 was a back breaker. 10-14 point swing. Forced rather than a complete whiff, but that was on the OL talent & scheme. OT not fast enough to even get a hand on the AUB DL who got his hand in to mess up the exchange.

Overall, a respectable showing by the Cards and things to work on for the future. Jackson will have his ups & downs, as all Frosh do, but looks to have some natural talents (athletic & poise) to build upon.
