TheDeuce
The lone positive for the UofL offensive line is that they almost certainly won't see a defensive front on a level like Auburn's the rest of the year. I thought about that as well. Auburn was very likely the best team Louisville will play all year.
Pura Vida
There were a couple of very long field goal attempt in yesterday’s game. One successful, one not. Auburn’s Carson’s 56 yard field goal was amazing; and Louisville’s Wallace’s ~60 yard (can’t remember exactly) attempt was right on the money but came up just short. Kind of fun watching the long kicks.

tcjkbt
Louisville actually beat Auburn in 1st downs (27/21) , rushing yards (238/190) , passing yards (167/137) and in turnovers allowed (2/3). UL made a more respectable showing than I had initially thought after the game, although I still think UL's front defensive seven did not perform anywhere near the hype. I agree with those who have said that Petrino has to go with Jackson or Bonnafon because of the porous OL.

Auburn will score way more than 24 points on several teams this year.
TheDeuce
^To add to that, Louisville held Auburn to its lowest offensive yardage output in three years...
rockmom
I've slept on it and I still feel good about yesterday's game. I like the way we were able to battle back. I like that our D performed well for the most part, especially the secondary. Maybe the Auburn QB sucked, but the D did their jobs and I thought our D was better than I expected. Yes, we still are a work in progress. But we are SOOOO close to breaking the plane. I thought we were fairly diciplined and didn't give too much up on stupid penalties. The biggest worries right now would seem to be the O line, which has potential to improve; and the receiver corps, which is potentially an area we are going to struggle with the injuries we have. All in all, for a loss, I still am feeling like we had a win...albeit U am not feeling euphoric, but I feel really good.

Auburn will score way more than 24 points on several teams this year. And the offense was the side responsible for the seven points on the short field after the INT. That effectively takes us down to 17 points surrendered by the defense. Against a top ten team I could never ask them for more than that.
Getslow
The fact that almost all the big plays on offense were made by freshman and sophomore players that were recruited by Petrino is also telling for the future. If Jackson hitting Peete for nice gains is going to become a thing for the next three years, I can live with that.

The possibilities are exciting.
John Anthony
Maybe it's just me' date=' but I'm darned happy with the way it all turned out. We weren't blown out. We did a LOT to overcome not only a really good opponent, but ourselves. I think it say a ton about how far we have come, and showed a ton of continued upward trajectory. We didn't fold. We played till the end.[/quote'] I'm pretty happy if I'm a UL fan. They played a bad first half but almost came back and beat a title contender. 5 STAR
I haven't heard anything about the James Quick injury. It looked serious and I hope the young man heals quickly (no pun intended). I just love watching him play. Anybody?
