One point and then I'll go back to reading. The one argument that a lot of SK and some other 6a schools use is the super district excuse. However, that aren't losing in the playoffs to the super district schools. If that was the case, then that argument is valid. But that's not the case. I think anyone would "buy in" if you were losing to them every year.

 

Secondly, can anyone tell us what the attendance was at SK when Marksberry took over 15-16 years ago vs what it is now? I really don't know and am curious.

in 93 when i graduated I believe we had 300 kids in my Senior class. Now I believe their is over 800 or 900.

Probably like 350-400.

That was a 4 loss Male team though who none of their 4 losses came at the hands of X or T.

 

That Male team was probably maybe the 6th best team in Jefferson County

 

They had lost to Central, Eastern, Ballard, and Manual

 

They weren't the 2nd best team that season but what they were able to accomplish was special.

I've lived in NKY for 9 years, though not originally from the area, or even the state, and I would say SK is respected as a solid, but not elite program. It all depends on what the benchmark is for respect.

 

If they have to consistently compete with the Jefferson County schools to earn your respect, then you're going to be waiting a long time. Just as you would be for just about any other school in the state. I think the big question is, can they (or any 6a school in NKY) reach the level of 80's & 90's Boone Co. I'm not sure if they can...it's a different climate, with more solid big school programs in the area now.

 

The game against Highlands is a BIG one in regards to this topic. If they get smoked, it will just be "I told you so." But if they compete or win, it's a nice step toward more statewide respect.

Play Covington Catholic's Schedule go undefeated. Consistently compete with Trinity and St. X. Put teams like Elder, Moller, St. X(Cincinnati), and Colraine on the Schedule and not Christian Academy-Louisville. SK is a 6A school the top tier 6A schools play out of state bigger Schools. This Year Scott plays Elder, St. X always plays Cincinnati St. X, Trinity is playing Ensworth, and Brentwood academy. You have to beat somebody to get respect by everyone.

Back in the day the strongest kids were still farming not playing ball. Respect? Qualified pending dominating other NKY teams. I won't hold Jefferson Co against them. Highlands ain't knocking off trinity and X every year.

The problem is SK has lost to the 5th best Louisville team when presented with the opportunity. We're not talking T, X and Male but at least play with the other Louisville teams when given the shot. If they ever go to dominating the rest of NKY 6A they're still a long way from their goal, unless of course NKY 6A steps it up quite a bit.

Isnt the probably with all NKY 6A teams, not just SK? I mean Dixie is the only one in the last 5 plus years to beat any of the Louisville teams (Ballard, last year.)

SK beat Male in 2008, beat Dupont Manual and Butler in 2009.
