I can see that. Not being from NKY, I can attest to the fact that Simon Kenton has had the attention of people in areas of the state not called NKY for several years. In my area, I have had several people ask about them and ask what changed for them to be so successful.

 

But, on BGP it has seemed that many of the NKY fans didn't afford the same compliments to the program. I understand people not caring for a SK fan, as a person, but it seems that SK gets a lot of anger from NKY when it seems that the NKY fans normally cheer for their regional pretty strongly.

It has everything to do with one fan.

When SK went to the State Finals they traveled to Male and beat Male.

 

That was a 4 loss Male team though who none of their 4 losses came at the hands of X or T.

 

That Male team was probably maybe the 6th best team in Jefferson County

 

They had lost to Central, Eastern, Ballard, and Manual

Fair point UK! I hope you win more games like that. I just think it will be difficult that final game. I do think SK this year is a Top team in 6A, but just have a tough time seeing them above the top Louisville schools that's all. We'll get a good comparison this year when SK plays Highlands and Highlands plays St. X.

I think this years team, at

least as far as skill players goes, is the best team SK has had since the Miles days.

 

NKY has a couple teams with some great duo's on offense and the Racke-Powell combo is one of them.

I'm really hoping Powell can stay healthy so we can see what he can do in an entire season.

I would have never paid a bit of attention to SK without the one fan. After you hear over and over about how great they are, as an outsider you become interested. So I look into them, and see that most times, they don't live up to the hype. When you hear all about how they are going to beat Team A and then they lose to anybody decent, it's easy to understand why so many people don't really give SK the time of day.

I'll agree but disagree as well. There was a lack of respect for SK before "One Person" got here.

 

But that was a few years ago. SK's continued , steady success has changed that.

Clyde, I think it should be "Outside of Jefferson County" instead of "Northern Kentucky". When it comes to 6A, there is no comparison of the top 6A Jefferson County teams. I think Simon Kenton will be really tough this year and can go to the State Championship game maybe, but that's it. Remember a couple years ago, SK had a good team traveled to Louisville Butler and got beat.

I will try and explain it this way.

 

If if I never came on this site, I would be a huge SK fan and supporter and that is only because I would have never stumbled

upon the nauseating drivel of a certain poster. But when you constantly read horrible critiques of a certain team and their players with such out of grasp and out of touch comparisons that defy reality while at the same time diminishing the success of players from other teams and other teams all together then it forces you unfortunately to enjoy in seeing his team lose, not for the kids or the coaches per say, but to see him be proven wrong again and again.

 

I used to to hate the Cleveland Browns the most out of any NFL team but once I got to know a lot of Steelers fans and their arrogance and how they would belittle other fans it got to the point where the Steelers became

my most hated team. Not because of the players etc. but because of their fans. That is exactly what SK's fan has done. He has not only put unrealistic expectations on not only the team but the individual ayers themselves. I can handle

educated and knowledgable discussion on the subject of football, what I can't handle is blind unrealistic bragging. It was only 2 years ago this same

fan touted no less than 6 players on that team going DI. Zero went.

 

He is the sole reason many NKY fans take a little joy every year as SK takes another early exit in the playoffs.

 

So yes it has everything to do with 1 person. If he could only speak on the subject with an unbiased and knowledgable aspect he may earn some respect, but no one in here see's that ever happening.

The only ones saying "that one guy" throws shade on the program, are the ones that didn't support the program anyways or support a different program.
