I'll agree but disagree as well. There was a lack of respect for SK before "One Person" got here.

I am amazed how one SK fan is constantly called "immature and juvenile" can have so much control over other fans who consider themselves mature knowledgeable adults.

 

How can you not have respect for what SK has been building the past 5-7 years? The one question I do have, is their current trend towards greater success sustainable with the development of the Taylor Mill Eagle youth football organization? I believe in the past the kids who now play for the youth Eagles had to play for South Kenton or the Dixie Raiders depending on where they lived.

South Kenton did give up some territory when the TME organization started. The Raiders gave up more though, and the majority of the kids that play for the Eagles would have been Raiders, and it's not even close (I think the Bengal Tigers gave up some as well). Really, you're talking about a handful of players that would play for SK that end up playing youth for TME, and it's certainly not enough to worry about that program being in trouble numbers wise. With the solid NKYFL team, and two middle school teams (one of which, Twenhofel regularly has 60-70 kids), I don't think SK will have any problem sustaining their numbers and success. Really, they have one of the best situations in Northern KY in terms of being able to develop depth.

Let's not act like SK isn't winning playoff games. Some folks want to be Trinity or St. X and we're just not there yet. We may get to that level but it's a gradual process. Our talent level is getting better throughout the program and we see those results on Friday nights. The coaching staff is doing a fantastic job and we're all proud of those kids when the clock ticks to 0.00.

Since Marksberry took over SK has more wins and playoff wins than any other NKY 6A team including Dixie.

Before the resurrection, a lot of schools around the state saw us as an easy W. Now that's not the case and some may be in fear that our program has risen to a level near or above that of their school.

 

As an example, for someone to say that SK will be better than CovCath in a poll is enough to have many Colonels fans looking for new coaches.

 

In the end, games are won and programs succeed with players. SK has been very fortunate to have some spectacular players, great players and even more guys that gave their all everyday to build the future of SK football.

I have a question for you and would love for you to explain. You say "Copper, Campbell, Dixie, and Cov Cath are all well below "top tier" this year. " What makes you think that? I only ask because out of all the teams, including HHS and SK and Ryle, Cooper has probably lost the least to graduation last year. They are returning just about their entire starting lineups on both offense and defense from a team that went all the way to the state semi finals last year. So I would love your explanation of that comment. I would think any team returning their entire starting lineups basically from a team that made it all the way to the state semi finals the previous year would hardly be considered "Far from top tier this year"

SK has also been in 6A among the longest, Dixie was only in 4 years for example. That pretty much explains the amount of playoff wins and still not able to win a regional title since their state run.

Dixie has a winning record vs SK in 6a play and all time. Even Marksberry's time at SK dixie has a winning record.

That is my point. Dixie accomplished just last year what SK accomplished back in 2008 and no where near that since.

 

This is why I said that SK has reached Dixie's level when you look in 5 year increments. Neither is going to get over the hump, or should I say Shamrock shaped Mountain.
