SK beat Male in 2008, beat Dupont Manual and Butler in 2009.

 

And lost by 15 to Butler who was the 5th best team in Louisville the year SK was undefeated going into the game. At least start taking care of those games on a regular basis and respect will come.

But your missing mine, noone else has done it either. So lets bash a team for doing what everyone else has done.

I didn't miss your point at all. You're point was the same as mine and what the original post in this was about was simply saying that Dixie was the only team in the last 5 years to beat any Louisville team so why should SK be considered an elite team in the state or earn any more respect than anyone else in NKY 6A since they aren't even the latest team to beat anyone from the Ville.

 

That was the point I saw being made. Basically SK isn't even the best team in the area in recent history in NKY so why should they be held in higher regards?

 

as I've said for years, NKY 6A hasn't been anything special for a long time if ever. Until they conrinually get to the title game it really doesn't matter.

I've lived in NKY for 9 years, though not originally from the area, or even the state, and I would say SK is respected as a solid, but not elite program. It all depends on what the benchmark is for respect.

 

If they have to consistently compete with the Jefferson County schools to earn your respect, then you're going to be waiting a long time. Just as you would be for just about any other school in the state. I think the big question is, can they (or any 6a school in NKY) reach the level of 80's & 90's Boone Co. I'm not sure if they can...it's a different climate, with more solid big school programs in the area now.

 

The game against Highlands is a BIG one in regards to this topic. If they get smoked, it will just be "I told you so." But if they compete or win, it's a nice step toward more statewide respect.

 

If you think SK will gain respect either playing Highlands tough or beating them, you might be right. The thing about it is, they lost to Highlands 25 times and I would guess the respect earned this year would be very small. One win against HHS, or if you lose a close one doesn't make SK an elite 6A program. Don't get me wrong SK continues to get better every year and has some great talent to go with it. No knock on SK at all. Just need some quality wins and not just one or two per season. Quality win in my books is being a big dog and end up winning the game. HHS would be a quality win, but if you get in the playoffs, and get pounded by a Louisville team, the HHS win wouldn't look that impressive, would it?
