We've had a pretty healthy discussion about schedules. There aren't many schools you can put onto a long term schedule and know they will be good. Heck, Ryle was crushing people 10 years ago and hasn't been heard from since. I remember when CovCath was winning championships. Those trophies are dusty. Cooper and Conner were both down last year. That's not our fault.

Very true and I agree with the scheduling. But if you are going to use a teams record as a point of debate then the strength of schedule also have to be included.

I think SK is the team to beat this year in 6A for the NKY area,, but until that actually turns into state championships,, they will not be considered "elite". Having winning seasons is good,, but the reason Highlands is considered "elite" are the championships that they collect year after year.

No one is talking elite level for SK. I hope to be at that level someday. I think our program is undervalued presently and believe we're a top 10 program in 6A and aspire to be top 5.

Most scheduling is done to control costs (limit travel expense). Maybe not so much for schools with unlimited budgets but it does play a role. Isn't that why Cooper wanted to move to 6A?

I thought the only reason SK scheduled Holy Cross was because Cooper and Conner dropped them when they moved to 5A and left SK to scramble to schedule 2 teams?

Would you apply more credit to an SK win over FTH this year (after FTH lost in the championship game LY) than you would a victory over a state championship team from HC or NCC? Sounds like a yes from your posts.

 

FTH did not lose in the championship game last year. But to answer your question...it depends on the year. But if you are asking me would I give more respect to a team that schedules a 4A runner up to a 2A state champ, most likely would. But again, would probably depend on the year you are talking about.

I think class size should go by roster size instead of enrollment.

Confused as to why NKY programs always try to knock each other down instead of elevating each other. I'll cheer for anyone (except that team in Union) when they play someone from outside our area. Seems like the folks on here are refreshing twitter every minute hoping that we lost our game.

 

Sad to me. Most of these kids grew up together, playing baseball and basketball. Some of my sons best friends are from Campbell, CovCath, Cooper, Conner, Brossart and Dixie. They were rivals when they played but supported each other when they could.
