Confused as to why NKY programs always try to knock each other down instead of elevating each other. I'll cheer for anyone (except that team in Union) when they play someone from outside our area. Seems like the folks on here are refreshing twitter every minute hoping that we lost our game.

 

Sad to me. Most of these kids grew up together, playing baseball and basketball. Some of my sons best friends are from Campbell, CovCath, Cooper, Conner, Brossart and Dixie. They were rivals when they played but supported each other when they could.

 

I think your fans (not all of them) bring that on themselves by trying to over hype their team. I don't see Dixie on here begging for respect. In fact, I don't see any other teams begging for respect or constantly trying to justify why the outside population should take note of their accomplishments. Some teams can back it up with history and some can't. We are say until we see justification, it's been a great ride for SK, but it is what it is...kind of average until we see something that consistently shows us they have arrived. We are just telling you like it is and why they don't get respect. Most outside of Independence (including me) are happy that they are doing much better. But we are tired of hearing the "look at us" posts from not just your lil buddy. If feels like SK has little man syndrome or something in all sports. I'm not saying that to be mean. But they are always trying to get attention and tell you how good they are. They are kinda known for that in NKY. Some of us just tell you like it really is and then you don't like to hear it. Respect is earned. And as I said before...if you're good, you don't have to tell anyone. They already know.

Most of us know why SK didn't play FTH and it had everything to do with a disagreement between coaches, not out of fear as many FTH folks believe. Some SK fans believe we played HC because we were losing kids to them from the middle school teams. Not sure about that but could be true. Not sure why we don't play CovCath. Not sure that we gain anything from playing them but not opposed to it.

Well if it respect you all are seeking, then playing CCH you gain a lot more credibility than playing teams with a losing record all the time. Just sayin.

I thought we had scheduled the cream of the crop in NKY this year. Who else would you like us to play that isn't on the schedule?

 

Your schedule is better. But you can't earn respect with future games. It will depend on how those game turn out. Up until this point, they haven't turned out well. So the jury is still out on "respect" for SK's program. If they do well against this schedule, we'll revisit.

 

But let me ask you...even on this schedule, what team or teams if preparing you for a state run? Just want your opinon. Because in my opinion, it's still an avg 6A schedule...if you are actually trying to win a state championship in 6A.

Average against 6a teams.

 

5-7 against the big three.

 

16-1 against the rest.

Ok. So now that that is settled. What's it going to take to gain some respect for this program? Do we have to be undefeated state champs or is it ok for us to lose to teams that are better than us occasionally? I get that we shouldn't lose to smaller class teams regularly but would the world come to an end if we were to lose to a good Scott Co. team in the playoffs, as an example?

 

I could almost assure you that most Highlands fans, Coaches and players have respect for Simon Kenton's football program. We as fans want to see them succeed and represent NKY well at State year in and year out. We would love to see SK go 14-1 this year and be crowned 6A State Champs. But as you know, this isn't about that.

Not many cupcakes on that schedule or in 6A. It's going to take a heck of a team to de-throne the pseudo champs in Jeff Co.

If you would lose to a good Scott Co team in the playoffs, that for me would give you 3 times the respect of your bubble gum card record. That would show me you can compete with the good teams. The bubble gum card record shows me nothing.

Really? Not sure you have the depth to play a 6A schedule and survive a playoff run with the big boys.

 

You do realize we dress more players than just about every school in the state?

 

But to play along with you...we are a small school. So we don't have to play a 6a schedule. But you do. So why not prepare yourself for it if you want to be considered good???

 

You always go back to comparing HHS to SK. I'm talking about SK competing in 6A. you have no choice. You are a big school. We are talking about SK getting respect in 6a. Not comparing you school to a 4a school.

I could care less if you or anybody else outside SK respects the program or not. I'm not interested in a marketing campaign, only the effectiveness and results in between the white lines.

This is all the same stuff we heard last year. This is the year. We will crush all NKY... Do something before you talk about it.... It's been 6+ years..

And 3 times the restrictions on what they can do for fundraising.

 

Not sure what you mean, but I coach at HHS and it is not easy to get fundraisers approved. It's definitely a process for us as well. But I'm not familiar with what you're talking about so I can't comment on that.

Well average would be competing with them right? Meaning they win some and we win some. Not bad for a small school. I would say HHS competes with all the Louisville schools. That was the question right...could HHS compete with the avg Louisville schools? Well it looks like they can compete with all the Louisville schools...not just the average ones.

 

Your not a small school when you have 110 kids on your roster!

I honestly don't know why more N Ky teams don't take advantage of being in the same area as some of the nations best football teams. It's part of the reason the Colonel Youth Football program moved to play in the GCYL a couple years ago.

And by the way- Wyoming is an Ohio Division 3 school. Similar in enrollment to 4A.

 

I couldn't agree with this more. You want to measure your team, put one of the good Cincy team on your schedule. Doesn't have to be a GCL team. There are a ton of good teams over there that can challenge your team and benchmark where you are as a team. That's why I crack up when some talk about money or travel expenses.

Unlimited budgets??? Can't speak for other schools, but HHS players and parents fund raise in order to raise the money for that stuff. Again, they work off the field to be able to do those things. Your school has twice the enrollment and less players to travel with, why can't they raise the money?

 

We know Hoge and Collionsworth give a big junk.
