Which SHOULD BE absolutely, positively no reason to knock, disrespect or intentionally underrate the team/program.

 

But it gave them a reason to, that's what the needed a reason, because the play on the field didnt give them one.

The only ones saying "that one guy" throws shade on the program, are the ones that didn't support the program anyways or support a different program.

I totally disagree with that comment.

 

I know now for a fact that one of those guys (ME) supported SK big time until recently. Have family and friends who have played for SK in years past.

And it astounds me that a single member has that much power.

I have no bias towards NKY teams whatsoever.

 

I viewed Simon Kenton as an outlier when they went to the title game. I thought they reached it with a stupid easy path and probably would not have even reached a State Finals in many other classes.

 

I was a doubter who viewed them more as a product of a single elite player moreso than an entire strong program.

 

I think now they have proven they deserve respect and have to be considered either favorite or co-favorite every year in NKY 6A..even before this new alignment.

 

Ignoring the small schools... if you asked me to pick the program besides Highlands that could bets compete with the rest of the State..regardless of class... for the next ten years I would choose SK over CCH, Ryle, Dixie, and the like.

Kenton co. And SK has done a nice job of updating the football program. This helps in keeping good players. Also the population has went up in southern kenton co.

I have family members that played for SK. They are a KC school. When you hear SK player x will crush so and so player. This is what gets me. SK has 6 D1 kids.. None ever go D1. Misinformation that's game being played.

6A has been so weak in NKY in the past is why I find it tough to think of SK as one of the top teams in the state. SK has 1 regional title and that was the same year they went to the finals. Dixie accomplished that same feat just this past season. I just don't see any 6A team in NKY even after the realignment being a state power.

 

SK is my #2 in NKY this year, but that doesn't really mean much actually. Just means outside

of HHS there really isn't a state power yet.

Respect has to be earned. SK hasn't earned it.

 

I've seen SK in person in 4 times. In 2001, 2005 and 2011 they were simply out manned 4 seeds playing a 1 seed, Combined scores 184-0.

 

When SK played Trinity in the championship game my impression of their team and coaches at that time were generally favorable. The kids played hard but you could tell after halftime that the coaches had told the kids to just enjoy the experience, good for them.

 

Unfortunately a young man from SK was injured and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher and in an ambulance. The following week these boards were inundated with people talking about how classless the Trinity players and coaches were because they didn't all take a knee while the young man was being attended to. Mind you the players from Trinity weren't milling around or making light of the injury, they were huddling with coaches and discussing the game. It was still early and the game was still competitive. I've had a sour taste for SK in my mouth ever since then.

 

When you add the soft scheduling SK has done over the years, the incessant prattling of a certain poster and the general lack of success SK has had when they've face an elite team and I'll freely admit that I will have a very hard time ever giving SK any respect. IF (and that's a huge if) they can knock off Highlands this year it would be a step, not an arrival.

Dixie did the same as SK in 4 years in 6a. SK has been in 6a for 8 years.

With all do respect, if you are to use the criteria of beating, or playing close, with Trinity and St. Xavier there wouldn't be many teams in the state to receive respect.

If the argument was about respect as a state title contender then your thoughts would be germane.

 

We're simply talking about them being a respected program.

 

They are.

That was a 4 loss Male team though who none of their 4 losses came at the hands of X or T.

 

That Male team was probably maybe the 6th best team in Jefferson County

 

They had lost to Central, Eastern, Ballard, and Manual

 

Imagine that making an excuse for a Jefferson County school.

Last year everyone thought Lafayette was ranked higher than SK most the year and everyone kept saying Lafayette would beat them. SK went to Lexington and took care of buisness. Only team SK struggled agianst was Dixie. They had no answer for them.

I am about as tied into Jefferson County schools as you are tied into them..I was just simply stating a fact that hanging your hat on beating a Male team who was not very good in that season is misleading.

 

I have nothing to gain from stating facts... hence why I have actually been an advocate for SK throughout this thread.
